Chapter Ten
His arms were braced on either side of her.
He enclosed her firmly within his boundaries, a sense of danger pressing in face to face.
Sofia Hamilton forced herself to look him in the eye, "Just passing by."
"Passing by?"
Ryan Gregory stared at her closely; he could see her slight nervousness, so intense that she couldn't ignore his presence.
Actually, he liked seeing her nervous.
At least it meant she still cared about him, unable to ignore his existence.
Sofia blinked, steeling herself to ask knowingly, "Is this yours?"
"Otherwise?"
"Mr. Gregory is really rich, buying all these houses—are you planning to keep several women?"
While she was nervous, she didn't forget to say something that stabbed at his heart.
Unexpectedly, he shamelessly blurted out, "But I just want to take care of you!"
"..."
His expression was dead serious, with not a trace of joking, and his domineering tone stirred an inexplicable surge of emotion within her, yet it was also hurtful.
