Why wouldn't she take a ride if there was a car available? Why insist on making herself walk such a long distance?
Ryan Gregory's smile lingered, "Did you come around that quickly?"
He had thought that he might have to get out of the car and stuff her into it against her will.
Yet, to his surprise, she had come around so quickly.
Sofia Hamilton looked out the car window, "Why wouldn't I take a ride if there's a car? I'm not stupid."
He smiled, nodded, and pressed the accelerator, instantly increasing the speed a hundredfold.
All along the way, she did not want to speak.
Yet he insisted on asking, "Are you accustomed to living here?"
"Of course."
"Do you live alone?"
"No, I'm cohabiting with Arthur Baker."
She said this on purpose, simply not wanting to lose too embarrassingly...
As a result, he fell silent.
Ryan Gregory's lips were tightly compressed, and he spoke no more.
