Chapter Three
He wanted to stop her, but it was already too late.
She simply pushed open the car door and stepped out.
The journalists seized the opportunity and swarmed up, numerous microphones aimed at Sofia Hamilton, a barrage of various questions following suit.
"Mrs. Gregory, hello, may I ask if you know the relationship between Mr. Gregory and Erika Ayton?"
"Do you know if they are still in touch? Was the trip to the Maldives planned in advance?"
"Were you aware that Erika Ayton was accompanying him before coming here?"
The questions were brutally direct and piercing, leaving Sofia speechless for a moment, unsure of how to cope, or which question to answer first.
She had never encountered a situation like this before.
Accustomed to a simple life, journalists should never have been a part of her world.
She was indeed not cut out for the life of a celebrity, facing these cameras every day, which could make anyone feel momentarily flustered.
