Chapter 2
"Why are you so good to me?"
She clung to him desperately, like a child afraid of losing her favorite thing.
"Because you are my wife."
Upon hearing this, Sofia felt uneasy, "And if I weren't your wife?"
As soon as she blurted out the words, she realized how strange they sounded.
This habit of speaking nonsense would really be her downfall.
Fortunately, Ryan furrowed his brows and smoothed her bangs, "What are you talking about?"
"Uh... I... I'm just speculating, you know, hypothetically, what if I weren't your wife?"
It was risky and likely to give him a hint.
But she still wanted to hear his answer.
Ryan looked at her intently, pondered for a while, then replied, "Even if you weren't my wife, I would still be good to you."
"Why?"
"Because... you are you, and that's enough."
His instincts couldn't be wrong, as long as she remained the sincere, clueless woman he knew.
Sofia was touched, her eyes rimmed with red as she threw herself into his arms.
