Chapter Five
Sofia Hamilton struggled with herself repeatedly but still went in.
He was lying on the hospital bed, his eyes tightly shut, clearly unwell.
She gently placed the items on the table and should have left immediately, yet she couldn't help but pause and take a couple more glances.
His thick eyebrows were slightly furrowed as if even in his sleep there was something displeasing him. His captivating eyes were closed, sparing her from that resentful look of his.
She remembered clearly the words he had pressed her against the wall and said that night.
He said, "He regretted having a moment of weakness and agreeing to marry her."
He said, "If she ever did something to wrong him, he might kill her."
Each word was uttered with ruthless force, leaving no room for mercy.
How much must he hate her to say such things...
As Sofia thought about this, she felt as though she was being pricked all over, the pain sobering her up.
Better to leave early while he was still asleep.
