Chapter Two
His tone was so grave, it was as if he truly couldn't control himself and might kill her.
Sofia Hamilton's heart trembled, her eyes wide in shock as she looked at him.
Yet, there was still a sliver of doubt within her, questioning whether what he said was true.
"Would you?"
She mustered her courage and blurted out the question.
His thin lips curved into a mocking smirk, his voice as cold as a specter's, "Try me."
With that, he turned and walked away, slamming the door with a bang.
That door shut heavily, its closure vibrating through Sofia, as though her heart would shatter.
To say she doubted was less accurate than to say she hoped.
She hoped that what he said was false, that perhaps he wouldn't treat her that way.
But now, she wasn't sure anymore.
Even the last bit of hope had vanished…
He had dared her to 'try'?
But did she dare?
To outsiders, he could be mercilessly cruel without restraint, so why would he show her any mercy?
