Chapter One
Sofia Hamilton walked out awkwardly, holding an empty bowl, "Um... the food might need a few more minutes."
She felt embarrassed, her cheeks uncontrollably turning slightly red.
Ryan Gregory set down his chopsticks methodically, his gaze inquisitive as he looked at her.
A hint of mockery curled at the corner of his mouth, "You didn't actually forget to cook, did you?"
"I did cook,"
Sofia defended herself with a sense of grievance, meeting his gaze, her heart instantly faltered, and she had to add quietly, "I just forgot to plug in the rice cooker."
He looked at her, puzzled, and after a moment, his lips curled up, "That really is something Regina Brown would do."
The statement sounded like mockery.
Sofia was not having it, "I was just too rushed today, which is why I forgot. Just wait a little longer, it'll be ready soon, really!!"
Watching her more anxious than he was, a layer of amusement flickered through his deep, dark pupils.
