Chapter Two
"How is he...?"
Deep down, Sofia Hamilton couldn't let go of her concern.
Unexpectedly, Nathan Morgan feigned ignorance, smiling as he asked, "Who?"
"..."
Sofia, in no mood to joke, frowned and pressed him, "You know who I'm talking about. Just now... he seemed to be really uncomfortable, and his complexion was off. What exactly is wrong with him?"
"Sister-in-law still cares a lot about Mr. Gregory."
"I just don't want to owe him anything."
Sofia felt as if her true thoughts had been exposed; her face heated up as she quickly defended herself, "He helped Aurelia, so I just want to repay him and not owe him any favors."
"You just said it yourself—he helped Aurelia Wood. Why would you need to repay him? If anyone owes something, it should be Aurelia Wood, not you."
"I'm Aurelia's agent, so..."
"Stop making excuses for yourself."
Nathan Morgan's smile faded as he cut off her argument.
