Chapter Six
Sofia Hamilton felt as if her heart was being slashed with a knife. How else could it hurt so much?
His expression was so solemn, solemn enough to chill someone to the bone.
And apart from a smile, what else could she use to protect herself?
"I was just joking with you. You don't need to be so serious. Besides, you should know that I am about to marry Arthur Baker. You're welcome to attend our wedding."
As she spoke, she hurriedly rose to her feet, fearing that if she stayed a second longer, her emotions would erupt and she wouldn't be able to hold back her grievances any longer.
No sooner had she stood up than her wrist was grabbed by him.
Ryan Gregory's brow furrowed even more. "Apart from the position of Mrs. Gregory, I can give you anything else."
"Should I thank you for that?"
Sofia Hamilton's heart was trembling, and so were the words she spoke.
She looked at him with a cold laugh, unable to believe he could say such things.
