Chapter Three
"You're lying to yourself," he said, his gaze intense and his tone so firm that it left no room for rebuttal, as if he had seen through all her pretense and thoughts.
"I..."
Sofia Hamilton tried to argue, but when she met his dark, sharp eyes, her voice seemed to catch in her throat.
"Your tears betray you."
"I've said it, it's because of the medicine..."
"Is it really so hard to stay by my side?" he suddenly asked, causing Sofia's heart to sour and a surge of emotions to flood her.
Hard?
Of course, it was hard...
So much had happened between them that even if she didn't care, they could never go back.
Over the years, each of them had someone else by their side. How could they possibly get back together? How could they act as if nothing had happened?
She lowered her eyelids, not wanting to discuss this with him, "Ryan Gregory, I think I've made myself very clear..."
