Chapter Six
His mocking words carved into her heart like a knife. Staring at the so-called evidence in her hand, she didn't know how to explain, truly at a loss for words.
What could she say?
No matter what, he wouldn't believe her…
He said he could let go of Abel's incident.
Meaning he still suspected it was her doing!
A wave of desolation swept through Sofia Hamilton's heart. "Ryan Gregory," she said bitterly, "I don't know how to explain to you. If you've already decided it was all my doing, nothing I say will change your mind. Why bother coming back to confront me?"
He had already condemned her in his heart, hadn't he?
"I, too, want to believe you, but are you truly worthy of my trust? You know best what you have done!" Ryan Gregory crushed his cigarette in the ashtray and stood up. "The most foolish thing I did was to trust you."
With those words, he strode out, his steps unwavering as if he would never stop for her again.
