The silver sports car sped along the winding mountain road, trees outside the window blurring into a continuous line as they flashed by.
Sofia Hamilton sat in the passenger seat, feeling the cool breeze as she sighed with relief, "We're finally out."
Feeling relaxed, she lifted the corners of her mouth into a beaming smile that revealed shallow dimples. Her eyes sparkled, and in that moment, the golden sunlight fell upon her face, making her smiling countenance particularly enchanting.
Aaron Brown glanced at her, and for some reason, he felt much more at ease as well.
It was as if, he had been infected by her mood…
Suddenly, Sofia remembered the eight hundred thousand he had promised her!!!
"Mr. Brown," she said, "about the eight hundred thousand you agreed to give me, is it still on the table?"
He glanced at her cautious and nervous demeanor, as if she was deeply afraid he would go back on his word…
But, he was indeed feeling a bit regretful.
Aaron raised an eyebrow, "I can give you the eight hundred thousand, but you haven't completed the task yet."
"Wasn't it agreed that just attending the wedding would suffice? How can you go back on your word," Sofia became anxious; she had seen people flip-flop before but didn't expect someone of his standing to also be unreliable.
Aaron Brown looked unconcerned and spoke leisurely, "I didn't say I won't give it to you. You just need to continue staying with the Gregory Family."
"What?" She was stunned.
That Ryan Gregory, the arrogant and agitated spokesperson!!
She had to go back and pretend to be his wife?
Sofia felt anxious inside, "This isn't a joke; if they find out, they could destroy me!"
With the Gregory Family's vast influence, eliminating her would be as easy as squashing an ant—effortless!
"Don't worry, no one has seen Regina. There's no way anyone would suspect you. Regina hasn't returned yet, and if I tell them now, it would be like offending the Gregory Family," he said earnestly.
Only once the Brown Family made it through this challenge could they...
Aaron glanced at her, "As long as you continue to stay with the Gregory Family, I can promise you that I'll cover whatever the cost for your mother's eye surgery, and moreover, I can hire the best caregiver to take care of her."
With one statement, he had captured Sofia's heart.
Her mother's eyes...
The doctor had said that as long as she had the eight hundred thousand, her mother could undergo the surgery and there would be hope to see the light again...
Her mother had lost her sight because of her, so she must find a way to cure her mother's eyes!!
Sofia hesitated, but posing as Ryan Gregory's wife, would that count as marriage fraud?
"What do you say? Have you decided?" He had pulled the car over to the roadside and turned to look at her.
Seeing her hesitation, he continued, "Miss Hamilton, think about it carefully. This is also an opportunity for you. As the daughter-in-law of the Gregory Family, you won't be at a loss. And I can take care of your mother's situation too."
Only if she agreed, would he have a chance to proceed with his plans.
To him, this woman was nothing more than a usable tool...
He could never have imagined that his determination to push her into Ryan Gregory's orbit would become the single biggest regret of his life...
After a long hesitation, Sofia looked at him and silently nodded.
Getting the answer he desired, he actually smiled, reached out, and ruffled her bangs.
Such a gesture was intimate and natural, as though they were long-time friends, which made Sofia's cheeks redden and her heart ripple with unnameable emotions.
