In the break room, only he and she remained.
Sofia Hamilton suddenly felt an ominous presence closing in.
She could only offer a dry laugh and feign ignorance, "What kind of grievance could I possibly have against you?"
"Weren't you quite talkative just now?"
His voice grew deeper, faintly tinged with anger.
For the first time, Ryan Gregory felt threatened, and that feeling of being ignored and disliked was not at all pleasant.
For some reason, he couldn't help but care about how she saw him.
Seeing her looking down, Ryan Gregory said in a muffled voice, "Regina Brown."
"Huh?"
She looked up at him, meeting his deep, dark eyes.
There was a complexity in his gaze, as if he had something to say, but pride prevented him from speaking his mind.
Ryan Gregory just looked at her like that.
He wanted to ask, do you really dislike me that much?
But when the words reached his lips, he couldn't bring himself to ask.
The corners of his mouth curled into a self-mocking smile.
