Amanda Jenkins stood up and walked over to Lucas Griffin.
She reached out, grabbed the hem of his shirt, and shook it, looking up at him with pitiable charm, "Come on, don't be mad. You don't need to worry about me so much. I can take care of myself, you know. When you weren't by my side all those years, didn't I live just fine?"
"You call that living just fine?!" Lucas snapped, reaching out and pinching Amanda's nose firmly, "Always swallowing your pride and being bullied by others, is that what you call living just fine?"
"I'm enduring hardship to strengthen my resolve, and besides, you're here now..."
Amanda frowned plaintively, her voice muffled and sounding all the more pitiable because Lucas was pinching her nose.
Lucas let out a low sigh.
How could he bear to let her go? And how could he bring himself to do it?
