He walked until almost sunset when we made our way off the road and into the forest. First, we
had planned to camp outside with the guys taking turns keeping watch. Then we found an abandoned house and decided to sleep there for the night, instead.
The dilapidated house didn't offer much cover from a vampire attack with broken windows and rotting doors, but it was better than sleeping outside.
Since Malcolm was with us, he agreed to set wards around the house for the night to hide our location and mask my scent.
So far, Malcolm's wards seemed to be the only thing capable of blocking my scent. I couldn't walk around with a ward in my pocket, and yes… I had asked if I could. Sadly, wards could only be set if I was inside a structure.
