Xavier entered the room with a backpack I had grown sick of seeing. Seeing it make an appearance meant
I'd be running for my own protection once more.
He placed it on the ground by the door and walked over to me. "Are you ready?"
I shook my head. "No. I don't like the idea of leaving you behind, Xavier."
"I don't like it either, but you have to. Dad and I need to stay here to help the others, so you have to go with Axel and Natalie." He held my cheeks in his hands.
I bent my head to snuggle further into his hands.
He continued, "Since Natalie said the warding is still there but weak, something must have happened to the witch."
Knowing now what that witch and her coven meant to Axel, I could only imagine how angry he must have been. "Yeah, I know. Is Axel still unable to get through to her?"
Xavier shook his head.
