Third Person POV
+
"Can somebody please explain what's going on to me?" Giuseppe asked his parents. "I mean I just met Müller few days ago and he said he was only supposed to make someone believe he turned his back on mom. He never mentioned anything about forging Ela's death." He added, confusion clouding both his tone and expression.
"That's your problem, son! You get a small piece of information and you think you figured the whole thing out, if you continue using your brain this little you'll never be able to avenge your late sister." Emma reprimand.
"What is that supposed to mean? And how did you know of my sister? Did you get your memories back?" Emma just increased her son's confusion some more.
"Meaning, just because you figured I was the one behind Gisela's disappearance and that I was the cloaked person who visited her every night doesn't mean you got the whole thing figured out." She told him. "And no, I did not get my memories back. Müller filled me in on everything I need to know from my past." She added.
"So what's this plan of yours? And why do I have to be cautious?" Giuseppe asked his mom.
"I want to penetrate the enemy zone, deep enough to rip the heart of their organisation out, once and for all. That's why you have to be cautious from now on, they may not think I form any kind of danger on them as of yet, but once they found out and I'm pretty sure that will be very soon, they'll want a leverage on me. One so strong that may bring me to my knees before them. Adam is untouchable which leaves only you and your sister to use as one." She explained.
"That's why you forged Gisela's death." Adam concluded.
"Yeah, a dead person is of no use, but you, my son, you are now capable of protecting yourself and helping your father protecting your sister. Sam will tell you when the right time to wake the Crawlers comes. I know they were only dormant to public, it's time you bring the name 'the Crawlers' back to the spotlights." She told him.
"But you said I am only to show myself once I'm ready?" Giuseppe questioned.
"And you think you aren't?" She raised one of her eyebrows challengingly at him. "Müller said you've spent five years training both physically and mentally for this day."
"I did, I just-"
"I trusted your Onkel's judgement when he said you exceeded expectations in the past five years, I bet he will be greatly disappointed when he hears you now." She said, the look on her face indicating she was disappointed.
"I am ready, mom, I just didn't think it will be this early." Giuseppe defended.
"Wipe that frightened look off your face, and act like a Knights. I'm not asking you to engage in any of this, I'm just telling you to be ready for any unexpected attacks on you or your sister in case they found out she was alive." She told him. "Your coronation is to take place soon, you better be prepared by then, or someone else will take your place." She said.
"I will." Giuseppe replied, his head is slightly bowed.
Emma knew he wasn't afraid of confrontation nor was he afraid on himself. No, he was afraid of the responsibility she just put on his shoulders, his sister's protection. He was afraid he would fail and something terrible happen to their little one.
However she also knew, sweet encouraging words were not enough to snap him out of whatever state his mind was in, the way she handled things was the only way to get him to act right. His parents and Onkels' opinions about him meant more to the young man than he was letting on, them being disappointed in him is something he would not tolerate.
She had he was the only one to protect his sister when Adam's real identity is revealed to the underworld. He's the only one she trust with her little angel when the war breaks out.
"And I suppose, it was because of Müller, you asked me nicely the other day if I was hiding something instead of bombing me." Adam cut in.
"Partially, yes." She replied.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"He did tell me about his hunch of you not being the bad guy here because of how you treated me even after I lost memories, he told me that the guy we caught five years back only gave us pieces of the puzzle and I acted upon my assumptions. But never got the whole truth, neither did I ask you for a clarification. However, even before he told me this I knew that bombing you was an exaggeration from the old Emma' part. I mean I understand with all of those revelations and her disease and pregnancy combined her mind must have stopped working for a while and her emotions took reign, but there were a lot of alternatives she could've used instead of bombing your premises." She explained.
Adam nodded in understanding. He liked this Emma more, she was much more rational and ruthlessly calculative which is not always bad. She was also calmer and easygoing.
"Mom, you said you wanted to penetrate your enemies' zone, does it mean you know who they are?" Giuseppe asked.
"I knew only some of them, not the key members. Not until today anyway." She replied.
"So you know all of their identities?" He asked.
"Better yet, I know why they're doing this. Your father helped me figuring everything out. Now all I need to do is to take them down, and for to do that I have to plant someone between them, someone they will become to trust more of their own." She said.
"But Onkel Müller said they're not that powerful, why don't we just take them down?" He asked.
"They may not be that powerful or known in the business world, but they have an incredible influence in the underworld, it won't be easy to take them down just like that. Everything needs to be planned and well calculated to avoid mistakes and achieve our goal." She answered.
Giuseppe nodded in understanding.
"What about what you did earlier? Why did you provoke me that much?" Adam asked her.
"I told-"
"I don't want to figure it out by myself, I want you to tell me. Why are so prone to making puzzles of everything!" He exclaimed.
"Adam, I'm late. I have a flight to catch, and I don't have time for this!" She snapped.
"Then, tell me, or you're not moving an inch from this room." He said sternly.
"Alright, okay." Emma with her hands up in surrender, she looked at her watch and sighed before she started talking. "I wanted to know whether you'll pick me over Gisela or vice-versa." She confessed.
"What?"
"Let's face it Adam, your identity as the head of the Protecters is bound to come out sooner or later same goes with mine as the sole heir to the Monarchs. They know the only way to get to us is through our kids." She told him. "You are under an oath since before you were even born, so if I ever was in danger you're bound to come to my rescue, that's inevitable, but I wanted to know who you would pick between me and Gisela." She said.
"You wanted me to pick Gisela, that's why you kept provoking me."
"I did, I prayed to almighty God that you pick her over me so that I can rest in piece and know she's well protected by both the Protecters and Crawlers." She said. "I called Sam and told him to tell Giuseppe about the news thing when he's sure he's home so that he tells you. I calculated every move you two will make and matched it with my words and moves. I wanted you to believe every last word that comes out of my mouth, and to turn the illusion into a reality long enough for you to pass the test." She confessed.
"Why didn't you tell me when I attacked you the first time, then. You could've spared yourself the pain of the second attack." Adam told his wife after he walked towards her and ran his fingers softly on the scratches on her neck.
Emma took his hand in hers. "I wasn't satisfied with your initial reaction, and I wanted you to see what could possibly happen in the future if and once they get their hands on her. I want you to keep the picture of what the news showed engraved in your brain and to make sure our little one is safe and sound." She told her husband before looking at the direction of her son. "Same goes with you, son. You have to work hard to keep her safe because if our identities are revealed she will be in great danger. What I photoshopped is nothing compared to the horrendous things she will be exposed to if they get to her." She told them both. "You have to keep her safe and hidden from everyone's eyes. Not even the two old geezers that goes with the names David and Rob, do you hear me?" She repeated urgently.
"I promise you, I will keep her safe always." Adam assured his wife.
"Nothing will happen to her, mom, we'll make sure of it." Giuseppe also assured his mother.
"Good, now I have a flight to catch." She said, lifting the travel bag from the bed.
"Where are you goi-" Adam's question was cut off with a loud scream coming from down stairs.
One of the maids came barging in their bedroom, panting. "Sir, Madam! Quick, y- you have to come, young miss-" the maid trailed off as the trio bolted out of the room and downstairs.
