Flashbacks (5 years ago.)
"I have your mother to thank for that." Smiled Sam affectionately at the little boy who was holding his still sleeping new born sister.
"What do you mean?" Giuseppe asked. "You can't just escape a group of hungry tigers in a locked room, can you?" Giuseppe was dumbfounded with this new revelation.
"Let's just say I made a deal with the devil, my soul for my life." Sam said mysteriously. "How did you know me and my story by the way, I'm sure you weren't there at the time." He asked the little boy.
"Müller showed me the recording of your session with mom, said it was mandatory for my training. Now I know why I was made to be familiar with your face." Giuseppe explained.
"Smart boy, I wouldn't have much trouble getting you where young miss wants you to be." Sam praised.
"When's the ambulance arriving? They're going to die if they lost anymore blood." Giuseppe inquired, looking at his mother and his mentor direction.
He couldn't approach them because of the sleeping baby in his arms, he still didn't move from his position, afraid to wake her up. Even though the little girl was only a couple of weeks old, he didn't want her to see her mother laying in a pool of her own blood, so he stayed put until the ambulance arrived.
Sam was about to answer when the sound of an ambulance approaching the building was heard. "They're here." Sam said instead of whatever statement he was going to utter. "Let's get you out of here." He added, trying to help the little boy up because it would be difficult for him to do it himself because of the baby in his arms.
"No, I'm going with mom." Giuseppe said when he saw that Sam was leading him to his car.
"We're going to follow them to the hospital." Sam said.
"No, I want to be with mom in the ambulance." Giuseppe said stubbornly.
"Okay, alright!" Sam said raising his arms up in the air with a sigh. "We'll ride with them then." He added.

"Can you borrow me your phone?" Giuseppe asked Sam as they sat in the arm chairs in the corridor outside the OR where Müller and Emma were being operated on in.
"Why?" Sam asked.
"I want to call dad." Giuseppe said honestly.
Sam looked at him for a while, he knew the little boy meant Adam Knights and not his real dad, so he sat straight and turned to face him. "Listen, I know your mother might not have been able to tell you because of the sudden attack and all but you're not supposed to call anyone, much less your dad." Sam informed.
"She did." Giuseppe answered.
"What?"
"She told me everything in details, how I'm supposed to act and what I'm supposed to do if something happened to her." Giuseppe told him.
"Why are you asking to call your dad, if she told you not to then?" Sam asked the boy.
"Don't you see her?" He said referring to the little crying baby girl in his arms.
"I do, so?" Sam asked.
"She's so young to have one of her parents snatched from her." Giuseppe said looking down at the hiccuping child he was rocking in his arms to get her to sleep or quit crying. "I don't want her to have to grow up without one of her parents by her side, and if something were to happen to mom, I want her at least to have her father by her side. I don't want her growing up like I did." Giuseppe told him.
"But if we call him, she may be in danger or even worse she may have to live a life worse than death. A life where she would be continuously used and played with. A never ending cycle of lies and deception." Sam said.
"I won't allow it to happen, I'll be there to protect her from everything that may endanger her. She would grow up to have everything I was deprived from. I'll shield her from everything that could cause her to lose her smile let alone put her in danger. I'll be by her side every step of the way for as long as I live, but I know I'll never be able to fill the void of a father. A brother or a sister can never replace a father. Besides there's no law against having both your father and brother in your life." Giuseppe replied.
"Are you willing to take that risk? Her father may actually be the reason of her doom." Sam tried to change the boy's mind.
"If he does turn out to be as evil as you describe him to be, I'll take care of him myself. But isn't it unfair to deprive a father from his offspring and a daughter from her father just because of a bunch of assumptions? I mean I'm sure I can raise her perfectly on my own, but would we be doing her justice if we separate her from her father before she had the chance of meeting him?" Giuseppe said in hopes of convincing the man of his opinion.
"But, young master-"
"Mom said you're supposed to obey me, now I'm ordering you as my mom's successor to call my dad or give me the damn phone to do it myself!" Giuseppe cut him off, pissed at him.
Couldn't this man see how his little sister was going to hurt herself from crying this much. Giuseppe thought to himself.
Sam fished Emma's phone which he picked from the scene earlier and handed it to Giuseppe, but he held it back when the little boy stretched his hand to take it. "Remember that from the moment you pressed that button what your mother told you just became your reality. No one is to know what you and your mom shared earlier, and my identity is to stay a secret. Don't betray your mother's trust." Sam told him before he handed him the phone.
"I know what to do, Sam." Giuseppe said, irritated that he was treating him like a kid.
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~
Giuseppe couldn't control his tears when he heard his foster father's voice through the phone.
He was barely able to tell him what happened and their location, it was as if all of what he went through today came back at him, his tears were unstoppable just like his sister.
The strong young boy from earlier completely vanished and his place came a vulnerable little boy who just witnessed another person whom he hold dead to his heart getting hurt without being able to do anything to help.
Sam stayed with him until he knew Adam was due to come, he took his men and came vanished from the hospital leaving only the Crawlers there. He didn't want to draw attention to himself just yet.
Adam came running into the hospital corridor where his two crying kids were sitting on one of the chairs there.
"Giuseppe!" Adam called.
Giuseppe looked up at his father before he stood with his little sister in his arms and walked towards him, when he was next to him father he stretched his arms to him for Adam to take his crying daughter whom ceased crying when her father embraced her in his strong arms.
"I didn't know what to do to get her to stop crying, she's been crying since she woke up few hours ago." Giuseppe said, crying himself.
"It's okay, son, everything's going to be okay." Adam said embracing his son with his free arm.
Everything's going to be just fine. Adam assured himself.

Here's a new chap for you, hope you enjoy it.
I was planning to reveal why Sam is still alive but I figured it's not my story tell, it's Emma's, so you'll have to wait for her to recover to tell you what exactly happened. 😉
Anyways, happy reading, my lovelies.
Until next time.
