Chereads / SCANDAL WITH PRIVATE DOCTOR / Chapter 3 - Haunted by Fear

Chapter 3 - Haunted by Fear

Seeing Eliza faint on the aisle, Karan took her to another room. The long and lively event suddenly came to an abrupt halt. The invited guests panicked when they saw the bride unconscious.

It was only natural that Eliza fainted, she was already too tired with the various events in recent times. Moreover, Karan's family asked them to have a reception with Padang customs. Eliza accepted the series of events without protest.

Today was the end point of her body's fatigue. The shadow of the bitter past has also threatened Eliza's life. Many bad things came to her mind, about someone.

"That man, I hate him. No!!!!" Eliza screamed as soon as she woke up.

After several attempts, Karan tried to wake Eliza up with the help of several other people.

"Arrrrggghhhttt!!!" Eliza moaned as she touched her temple.

The pain in her left side of her head made Eliza squeal with pain. Karan gently touched his wife as he helped Eliza get up.

"Where am I Karan? What happened to me?" asked Eliza as she looked around the room.

"You fainted earlier, I took me to the room where we changed. Why didn't you say anything. If I knew you were sick, of course I wouldn't have let you finish the show."

Eliza once again touched her temple as she frowned, "It doesn't matter, Karan. I'm fine, just tired. I'm sorry I messed up our programme."

"Don't talk like that, this event is not more important than your health. I've asked the host to end the programme. I think we should call it a day, you won't even be able to get up. Drink up, you need energy for your body."

Eliza obeyed Karan, she gulped down the glass of water in Karan's hand. After Eliza was calmer, the make-up artist helped Eliza to take off her clothes and all the accessories that weighed on her body.

I don't know how heavy all those accessories were, but in order to please her in-laws Eliza wanted to do this series of activities. She didn't care about her body condition and fatigue. At that time, all Eliza had in mind was for the event to finish soon.

This happy and pleasant wedding was like a nightmare, for three consecutive days the event kept going from one place to another. Not understanding, Eliza went along with Karan's family's wishes.

"Love has overcome everything, and love has also silenced your mouth to speak."

Zoe's words seemed to ring in Eliza's mind. The last time the two of them met at a coffeeshop enjoying their favourite coffee while joking about spending their single days. Before Eliza left her single life and got busy with her husband. Zoe invited her to meet that day.

It's not impossible for Eliza to tell her a lot of things about Karan. An accidental encounter, from superior and subordinate to lovers. Eliza was working in Karan's company at the time.

Love grew between the two, having only been in a relationship for no less than two months. Eventually Karan proposed to Eliza and the two decided to get married in the near future.

"Not love, Zoe. Destiny. God has shown me Karan as my final destiny, no harm done. He's good, all this time he's been treating me like a gentleman."

"So, that's why you want to marry him?"

"What do I need to think about, Zoe. There's already a sincere man in front of my eyes, there's nothing wrong if I decide to marry him. That's my decision, Zoe."

"It's your decision, right. But I'm just warning you, don't take the wrong step and choose the wrong man. All this time, you've only seen the good, but you don't really know the depth."

The conversation rang in Eliza's mind. It's not impossible that Eliza felt scared when she made the decision to marry Karan. Her heart only believed that Karan was good, even though she didn't know what would happen in the future.

Wasn't her father good before? A responsible husband and father to his family. It was only because of the problems that occurred in 1998 that turned Jacob into a ferocious wolf.

Not only is his wife a victim, Eliza is also a victim of her father's separation and betrayal. The mixed feelings made Eliza a tough person. She learnt to be stronger, especially after her mother died. As if the sky was falling on her body, Eliza lived alone.

"El, what's wrong with you? How are you daydreaming?" said Karan, breaking Eliza's empty reverie.

"Ah, no. I'm just missing my mum, she should have been present on my happy day. Unfortunately, God loves her more than me. Before seeing his son happy, God took him first."

"Your mum must be happy, El. You have to let her go, rest here for a while. I'll ask the driver to get the car ready. Let's go straight home, you need a lot of rest."

Eliza just nodded in agreement to Karan's request. There was nothing she wanted to do but rest and lay down. Eliza did not forget to change her clothes into something simpler than the dress she wore on the aisle.

Let alone three days and three nights non-stop, just one day was very tired of going through the wedding reception procession with a series of customs. Like a festive and magnificent princess wedding, instead of being happy, Eliza was tormented by her situation at that time.

It was only a few minutes before Karan left Eliza.

"El, shall we go home now? The car is ready."

"Yes, I'm tired too and want to rest."

Karan carried Eliza, helping her to walk slowly. Eliza's body was really weak, her energy drained in the last few days during the akad procession to the reception.

"You must be really tired, I'm sorry if our wedding party only made you sick."

"No, Karan. Don't say that, I know you are happy with this kind of event. Whatever you give is also for me."

"Are you happy with our wedding?"

Eliza was instantly taken aback by Karan's question. As if Karan doubted Eliza's words, she always said everything Karan did made her happy. But in reality, I don't know.

Actually, Eliza didn't want to answer Karan's question. It was enough for Eliza for Karan to see her smile, that would make it clear that she was truly happy. But once again, Karan doubted that.

"Sir, go!" pleaded Eliza.

She changed the subject, Eliza didn't want Karan to keep questioning her happiness. Every woman would be happy to be married to a man she loved. A man who doesn't just make promises, but proves his love by tying his vows.

"Don't divert my questions, El. If you are unhappy, just say so."

"Karan, the whole world also knows that I am happy with you. You have given so much to me and you have proved your seriousness by marrying me. That alone is enough to give me a lot of happiness. This wedding party is also every woman's dream, I feel very privileged to be one of those women who get this from my husband."

Karan smiled at Eliza's reply. His happy face really lit up, Karan gently kissed Eliza's forehead.

Seeing all that, Eliza blushed. Moreover, there was a driver between them who was looking through the inside rear-view mirror.

"Already, I'm embarrassed to be seen by Mr Bayu."

Karan was distracted when he heard his mobile phone ringing. I don't know who was interrupting their romance.

[Karan, where are you? I know you are happy with Eliza. But, please Karan. Don't be happy on top of my misery. I don't want to know, we have to meet tonight]

"Karan, why are you silent? Who is that message from?"

"Emh, it's..."
