'Dammit!' Jason cursed in his heart. He had already attacked the boar more than ten times, but he could still not penetrate its tough skull.
While Jason and the top hunters were keeping the boar occupied, the other hunters who were responsible for pinning it down quickly used the opportunity to once again restrict its legs using multiple thick metal chains.
"Pull harder! Don't let the boar overpower you!" Jason shouted to them as he struck the beast's left eye with his spear.
Unlike most parts of its body, its eyes were completely vulnerable.
Roooaarr!!
The Black Scaled Boar emitted a shriek after having its left eye punctured. It shook its head aggressively, throwing Jason and the top hunters off in midair.
Meanwhile, the hunters who were pulling the chains felt their arms breaking as the beast tried to break free.
"Don't let go even if it breaks your arms!" Kevin stabbed his axe into the ground and wrapped the chains around it. The veins on his arms protruded as he exerted more strength in his grip.
More hunters helped in pulling the chains. Luckily, their efforts weren't in vain. The Black Scaled Boar failed to escape and all it could do was scream in place. Its left eye was bleeding and its face was covered in wounds after the repeated attacks from Jason and the top hunters.
Roooaarr!!
Soon, the weakened Black Scaled Boar finally collapsed in exhaustion. It glared hatefully at Jason who dealt the most damage to its body.
"Hold on, everyone! The beast is almost at its limit!" Jason shouted to the group as he continued to stab the boar's left eye.
The boar tried to lift its head, but after losing too much blood, it no longer had the strength to move. It could only cry in pain as the hunters continuously attacked it.
After almost thirty minutes, the Black Scaled Boar breathed its last.
"We killed it! Yeah!"
"We did it!"
"The beast is finally dead!"
"What a tough motherf*ck*r!"
The hunters cheered in joy. They had killed a Third Level Spider-Grade mystical beast!
Mark let go of the metal chains and stared at his palms which had turned red. He then raised his head and looked at the hunters who were still celebrating.
While he was standing there like a fool, he suddenly felt a smack on his back. He turned his head and saw Kevin grinning at him.
"It's good that you're still alive, kid! Hahaha!" Kevin laughed heartily.
Mark smiled bitterly.
"How do you feel, kid?"
Mark shook his head and replied. "I don't know. I didn't contribute much to killing it. The veterans did most of the work."
Kevin smacked the back of his head and snorted. "What the hell are you talking about? If not for us holding it down, how could they have killed the beast?"
Mark rubbed his head.
Kevin grabbed his shoulder and said. "Listen here, kid. A team needs to work together to complete their mission. Everyone has their own role and all of them are equally important. Those guys wouldn't be able to kill the Black Scaled Boar without the rest of us. Raise your chin and be proud that you helped the team in making this happen!"
Mark's spirits were lifted by his words.
"Follow me. We still have to deal with the body before it attracts other mystical beasts." Kevin brought him in front of the Black Scale Boar's corpse.
Mark saw the hunters collecting the beast's blood. Some were pulling out the scales of the beast. "How can they pull out those scales?" He was surprised when he saw the hunters removing the scales.
Kevin grinned as he explained. "Once a mystical beast dies, the Qi in their body slowly dissipates. Without the Qi reinforcing their body, even normal people can skin them with a bit of effort. Try it and you'll know." He tossed his knife to Mark while saying this.
Mark caught the knife reflexively.
Looking at his hesitant face, Kevin immediately kicked his butt. "Just go ahead and do it!"
"Yes, sir!" Mark jumped on top of the beast's corpse like everyone else. Using the knife, he slowly cut off the scales of the boar. To his surprise, he felt no resistance when he was cutting through the scales. It was a bit tough, but with his enhanced physical attributes, dealing with it was pretty easy.
"I told you it wasn't hard." Kevin's voice drifted into his ears.
Mark gave him a thumbs-up before he resumed the task.
Under everyone's efforts, they managed to descale the Black Scaled Boar in under thirty minutes.
"Good job, everyone! Now, let's cut off the other important parts. As for the meat, you guys can take as much as you want!" Jason shouted to the group.
"Yes, sir!"
Mark jumped down from the corpse of the beast and threw a pile of black scales in front of Kevin. "What should I do with these?" He asked.
"You took them out so these scales are yours." Kevin replied with a smile.
"Eh? You mean they have value?" Mark stared at him in surprise.
Kevin chuckled. "Why else would everyone bother to collect these scales if they are worthless? I don't know the exact value of these scales, but I think each one is at least worth 200 Orbes. As for the Black Scaled Boar's eyes, teeth, heart, and other important parts, they are even more valuable."
Mark's eyes widened upon hearing this. He had collected eight black scales. He could have collected more, but his storage bag was already at full capacity.
"If I were you, I would start collecting some of the beast's meat. Although it's not as valuable as the other parts, you can still sell them at a high price in restaurants and meat shops." Kevin said.
Mark smiled bitterly. "I would love to, but my storage bag is already full."
"Haha! Too bad, kid!"
An hour later, there was still a lot of meat left in the corpse.
"Let's get going, everyone! I can sense some mystical beasts approaching. We have to get out of here soon!" Jason shouted to the group.
Everyone was reluctant, but they knew that they had to leave. No one wants to fight a group of hungry mystical beasts.
The hunters loaded their spoils into their storage items. They then left the place in a hurry.
"We're rich! Hahaha!"
"It's still too early to celebrate, everyone! We have to get out of this forest first!" Jason sternly reminded the group.
"Yes, sir!"
Meanwhile, Mark held his storage bag in excitement. Inside his bag were eight black scales. If he sold all of them, he could earn at least 1600 Orbes!
