Chapter 1 - Chapter one

 Brianna

Finally, after three long years of traveling all over Europe, taking part in baking competitions and winning lots of prizes, I'm going back to Kelso to finally make my dream come true and open my dream bakery. When I told my mother that I was going back to make my dream come true, she was so happy and her happiness made me very happy too. because after my father died, my mother was very sad for a while, but when I had to go to Europe to take part in my first competition, I took her with me, and then she came back to Kelso because my mother was homesick and I wasn't selfish enough to think more about myself than about my mother's wishes, and that's how it went for three years.

Now I'm here waiting for the plane that will take me to my last stop and after I get there I'll rent a car and go to Kelso when they call my name I head for the boarding gate as soon as I show my ticket the lady wishes me a great trip I get on and walk down the corridor until I'm inside the plane I went straight to I sat down and looked out the window, thinking about my plans once I got back home. I know that Kelso is a small, quiet town, but I'm sure that my plans to set up a bakery with the money I'd won from the competitions would help a lot in setting up and marketing the place.

"I'll come back to Kelso and make my dream come true," I say to myself with a smile.

In a matter of seconds, the pilot told me we were taking off, so I buckled my seatbelt and in a few seconds we were in the air. I looked out and admired the clouds, took out my cell phone and took a photo, putting something related to coming home in writing and posted it. A stewardess passed by offering me something to eat and drink, and I accepted, grabbing a sandwich and a juice. Then she went to the next row.

"Soon I'll be home again," I said, looking up at the clouds.

I didn't even notice that I'd fallen asleep when I woke up to the stewardess telling me that we'd arrived at our final destination. I thanked her with a smile, stretched and got up, walking until I was outside the aircraft, looking around me as the cool afternoon wind hit my face.

"Now just hire a car and go home," I said, walking down the runway.

I walked at a fast pace until I reached the car rental company there. I told the receptionist that I wanted to hire a car so that I could go to Kelso, a historic town on the border between Scotland and England. It is known for its impressive Georgian architecture and its large market square, which is considered one of the most beautiful in Scotland. The town is also home to the ruins of Kelso Abbey, which dates back to the 12th century, and offers many tourist attractions, such as art galleries, museums and stores specializing in local produce. Kelso is also a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts, with the River Tweed running through it.

I loved that town because of its history and that's why I hadn't moved away for good and I don't think I'd ever move, you know when you can't see yourself leaving a place? Well, that's how it was for me. I couldn't see myself leaving Kelson. Being away from my city for three years made me feel very homesick, because my roots were there and I would never get rid of them. I could win millions of prizes and lots of invitations, but I would certainly turn them down and always go back home.

"Kelso is my home," I say to myself, looking out over the plains.

The journey took a little over four hours, but at last I could see the large sign indicating that I had arrived in Kelson. I gave a wistful smile and continued driving slowly and quietly until the car was already inside the city. I looked around and nothing had changed, everything was still the same, even the curious people who stopped in the street to see who was passing by were the same, and that made me smile.

I drove straight to the house and when I got there my mother was already waiting for me at the door with a huge smile on her face. As soon as I parked the car in the garage, I got out my suitcases and ran over to where my mother was and gave her a big, longing hug, which she happily returned by kissing me on the cheek.

"I've missed you so much, my daughter - my mother pulled away, looking at me with an emotional smile.

"Me too, Mom," I told her, trying to hold back the tears.

"Well, let's go inside, you must be tired from the trip," my mother said, pushing me by the shoulders.

She helped me with my bags and we walked until we were inside the house. I looked at every corner and nothing had changed, everything was still in its place, right down to the photos of me and my father hanging on the wall near the fireplace.

"Everything is still the same," I said, looking around and then at my mother.

"Yes, I haven't moved anything because that way I have a bit of your father and you close to me - my mother said in an emotional voice.

I went over to her and hugged her tightly and we stayed like that for a few seconds.

"Now I'm here, Mom," I said to her in an emotional voice.

We both hugged once more and I kissed her on the head and then we walked away. My mother said she was going to prepare something for me to eat and told me to take a shower and put my things away so I could get some rest because it had been a long journey.

I picked up my suitcases and went through the living room towards the stairs. I climbed them slowly because my suitcases were very heavy and I couldn't go up in a hurry, so I went upstairs and down the corridor towards my bedroom.
