Chapter 1 - Enter: The Crimson Spark & The Cobalt Abyss

Where am I? ... Azure Ball. Not Yellow. Black Sky? Not Blue. Rain? Crimson. Not Water? Am I laying down? Looking side to side. I'm in a Garden. Flowers! Dead. Alive flowers don't look weak like this. Sticks with a buncha red things. And above my head! A bunch of triangles in a circle.

The sound of screams and flame flood through the Garden. Repeating over and over. It's starting to ring. Memories enter and leave my head. Breathing too fast. Every image turning into one thing. "Why did they turn into butterflies?" I feel hot, weak. Vision blurs. Everything fades to darkness, nothing.

Awake. Tree. Snow. "Snow is not cold. Did they say not to play in it because you get stuck?" I feel normal. Its hot even! Maybe I need to- Huh? When did I become fancy? My clothes are just like the picture books! Martial Artist. A Dancer who beats up bad guys. Just like them, I need a bonk device!

Up I go, to stretch and find the weapon of a true artist. I feel a small whack to my neck as I move. "Huh?" I have a necklace! A Black Fish! Er... Oh! I know what this means. It means I am the boss! And only the ultimate weapon could possibly suit the boss! Over to a tree, finding a branch just a tad smaller than me. I grip the base of the branch and simply take it off the tree. Examining the stick, the part I grabbed is ashes. What happened? Well. I just brush them off. Mine now.

"The Ultimate weapon has been obtained! Fear my power!" I take a powerful stance, raising the stick high. "Hear me people! I am your rulers! Come! Home is all around, and home is together! We wi-" Noticing something just standing across from me staring at me, I stop and stare back! Small like me. Wearing a outfit like me, but its Cobalt, Not Crimson. It's also much bigger, covers the legs and arms too. The thing has the white floof, and a cool Mask! I lower the stick. Is rude to talk like that.

"Hello."

"Jjolkhijmgyf" The thing replied back in something that sounded like a broken music player. A bunch of nonsense noise. And it sounds like a circle. Impressive.

"What?"

"Pqwaresrdgfthcgtvh" Again, circly nonsense noise.

"Hmm... Well I am the great... uh... my name is..." I don't know. Who am I? Where did I come from? Is this forest of snow home? I can't remember... Is there even anything to remember? I mean I'm amazing so I'd know if there was things to remember! I look to my necklace, the black fish. It's Important.

"My name is Fish! Hello!" I stand proud, holding the divine stick above my head. "I shall teach you the ways of the Martial Artist! For they are the honored ones! For this is our home! We must be strong." The Cobalt one then approaches me, holding out its hand. A Cobalt marble. "Ball? Your name is Ball! Alright, come! I will teach you." Off I go, surely there is a smaller thing in this forest somewhere. "As the first big ones, we have to protect home."

Ball did not respond, it only followed. The more I focus on it, the more Ball seems larger than me. Like an Ocean of Cobalt. Something far more than other things. I smile. Only something so vast is worthy of standing next to me as boss 2.

I have no idea how long we've been searching, but we found a big dog thing. The story books call this a wolf. Its much bigger than me. But I'm smarter, so brain combined with size, I am bigger! He looks horrified, cowering. Trying to hide from... Ball?

"Alright Ball. Momma always said, you get one chance! As the Bosses, we must make sure our people are happy. Now! How do you make him not scared, and happy instead?" Of course I could do it. Somehow. But I must see how the Ball works. Momma always said let them do it first, then give them advice!

Ball simply looks at the wolf, it cowers even further. Ball takes one step forward. It seems to start getting hurt? I hold out my arm blocking Ball. The ocean will consume this dog. "Okay Ball. You are too spooky! Er... I have no advice. I think being a tamer is beyond Ball. Bear Witness! The Mighty Fish shall show you how one that Father said would lead the Garden does it." Okay. First, we let him get the sniff. Animals see with their nose not eyeballs. Right!

I hold my hand out to the Wolf. It does the Sniffa. Crimson comes out of my body, going right inside the dog. Doesn't seem to hurt him? "I'm leaking fire?" Whatever is happening, the wolf stands up, walking circles round me. Looking quite happy. And thus of course, I mount my new beast. The first animal companion of the great Fish. "Ball! Bring the other animals! Home must stick together! I will make a spot." Nod nod. "Yes. The best spot, they like fire, I am fire." I point off in a direction, the wolf moves us.

"Alright Wolfy. We gotta find a spot with less trees." The trees around are lacking in leaves. Just big sticks. The snow on the ground is also in the sky. "Why does the snow fall, can it not fly?"

"The Snow cannot fly, for its burdens caused it to fall. It cannot even walk." A voice, sounds like a bassoon, an old man.

"How does it fall if it can't walk?" You can't fall if you can't walk. Silly voice.

"The Snow walks across the sky little one. Free like water, until it reaches above this place. It always falls here." We stop. The Wolf waits for me to get off. Plop onto the ground I go. "This spot is more clear than others."

??? I blink, rubbing my eyes right after to be sure. Did the Wolf talk? "Wolf?"

The Wolf tilts its head down, looking to me. "Hello little one." He moves forward, sitting in the middle of the spot. Is a good spot! We could sit here all together. Ball, Wolf, Fish. But work is always there to do. I start collecting rocks.

"Wolf! Diggy hole!"

Wolfy starts digging the snow. He's really fast! Taking breaks only to push the growing pile of snow off into the woods. Meanwhile after getting a nice big pile I start placing the rocks around the fire pit. Need the big circle. Big warm.

This hole is much bigger than I thought wolfy could make, is he a super wolf? Hopefully I have enough fire. I should name em. Father always called our animals Zōng Mén Shòu. I don't remember what it means, but the first must be called by tradition! Mommy said its important to remember stuff like that.

I grab a square enough piece of bark and write onto it with my finger. Burning letters into it. Once wolfy returns from his snow moving, It goes right atop his head! 宗门兽 "Your name! It's spelled like this. That's a lot of word, Zōng Mén Shòu. So I will call you Z!" The wolf simply nods. Looking up, blue became black while we were setting this up. The moon, rising in the sky. "So, how come you can talk?"

Z takes minutes to respond, his gaze returning to me from the moon. "I do not know. I am now burdened with thought. Before, When I was rival to the other great beast of the south. There was only instinct."

"This is south? South is down right?" I reply as I toss piece after piece of wood into the pit. My arms are getting tired.

"Yes. There is a Myth in the north, who used to have complete dominion. 5 Years ago now..." Z sounds sad. Why?

"You speak so good, didn't you just learn how to think?" This gets a chuckle out of Z. And a pout out of me.

"I simply remember all I've been through." Z looks to the pit of bark, the bottom barely filled. There is awe in his glare. I remember that kind of look. "This fire of yours, what is it?"

I shrug. "I'unno. I only now learned that I am fire. How did you get it to come out?"

Z makes that doing the big think face. Shaking his head after what was surely a grand battle in that fluffy brain of his. "I've never seen fire like that before. Nor heard tales from the birds."

I place my hands to my sides, gazing up to the sky. "Hmph! The boss is Unique after all. First of her kind!" I knew I was amazing. After my moment of well deserved celebration. A nom of the snow. I look to Z "You are not small like me? Are you dog old?"

"I could be considered a Elder. I'm an adult, by human standards. I think." Z then glares at me, eyes showing worry. A look I remember to hate. "I'm sorry, Little Red Spark. But I think it would do you well to slow down. Take your time in observing the world. Your gaze hops from one thing to the next, no appreciation. No insight. This is a dangerous land, and foreign to you."

Slow down? A static starts humming through my ears. But I can't do that, what is the point? The snow is just snow, the tree is just tree. And.. focusing is so loud. I'l- Wait. "I am not Red, I am Crimson!"

"Crimson? Why are you not just Red?" A good question, why is it not just red?

"I just know that I'm-" My words stop coming as I see Ball in the distance, walking towards our pit. Ball's covered in red. And is being followed by lotsa animals. They don't look so good...

"Ball!" I run over to Ball and grab its hands, holding them together. "Good Job!" I leave with a smile, returning over near the pit. Tossing more wood inside one by one. Speed! Can't make them wait.

Z walks over to me, sitting to my side. "That blood, smells like the rival beast. A Great bear. It was always one to choose fight over fright. So, I reign now. I will watch over our pack."

"Yes! The Great Zōng Mén Shòu shall be a Guardian of The Garden!" Kneeling down to make a little stool of snow I can stand on. I ascend. Looking over the pit down at my people! I motion the animals to stand before the pit. They do not move. Z moves to my side. "Er... Ball? Could you fill it with wood?" It gives a look of something. The mask is cool, but I don't know if Ball likes me if I can't see the face! In the end, Ball goes to complete the task. Maybe Ball was annoyed...

A simple task for the Ball apparently. It waves its hand like a cut motion at a tree, and the tree snaps at that point. Ball then begins carving piece by piece. Z quickly rushes over to carry each chunk, dropping them into the pit one at a time. So slow. Once finished Ball stands right next to me. Z laying on the ground to my other side. And the moon is in full bloom! Just in time for a epic speech.

I make motions for the animals to sit in front of the Pit once more. Looking to Ball when they do not move. He gives them The Glare! And they move. Poor babies, look horrified. But is no matter. We are fearsome, they will learn not to fear those that protect them.

"Welcome! This is my home! You live here, so it is also your home! Home must stay together!" A brilliant speech, I'm so cool. I hold out my hand and waggle it. Nothing happens. Er... "Go! Fire! WOOOOSH!" Waggle waggle. Nothing.

"Focus." A new voice, feminine. Strong. Right next to my ear? I look to see a blob of ink with eyes. I've seen this in the story books! A thing appears on da shoulder. A Guide!

I close my eyes. And cease. Silence. As if nothing exist. Heat rises. An Echo comes. Ringing follows. Breathing is hard. Then, a pat on my head. I feel normal, the sound stops. I open my eyes. Ball patted my head.

"Oh. I'm okay! Not-" Noticing the pit of wood is now a pit of Crimson flame I reach out both hands, one to Z, one to Ball. "Fire! Wooo!" Both the Z and The Ball get a headpat. "We did good. Now, we must keep doing good!"

The animals all seem calm now. Strands of fire flowing into each of them ever slowly. "Alright, we got one, two... fifteen wolves. ears. And three... bunny birds?" I give them another look, tilting my head. "Hey Z, what are th-" Floating words appear in front me. I tumble backwards into the snow.

"Confirm. Fancier than yes." The text vanishes, with that distraction gone I notice something. Its suddenly day time? The moon is right there though. The light looks to be from behind me. Its dazzling, full of all sorts of colors. I turn round. Ball is holding a card out to me. The light maker. Letters I don't understand constantly changing at the center of the card. I reach over and touch it. The Light vanishes, the card dissolves.

The Moonlight turns Crimson.
