Marv watched the sun creep over the landscape of the clan. She saw the rice fields, tea bushes, and the school from here. She could still imagine Arioch, knee-deep in the water, helping the farmers with a broken pipe. Marv could still feel him staring her down, ruby eyes burning her skin but Marv did not have time to reminisce. Marv had places to be.
Marv walked up to the gate, no Nandi or Min in sight, but she knew they were watching her. She came to the beautiful mosaic gate and its intricate archway, the detailed patterns that were carved into the wall. She stepped to knock on the gate but she stopped, pulling out a water bottle of blood and taking a sip, then leaned forward, about to knock, when Min jumped down from the archway. His eyes were cold and his lips were in a straight line as he slowly approached Marv.
"Get off our land," Min sneered. He was wearing a white button-up shirt and tight trousers.
