Veda stood at the reception desk, going through the list of outstanding books but her mind was on Marv. She knew it was wrong of her to cancel but almost knew that being in Marv's presence for even a moment will make take the mortal. Veda couldn't resist her early, those eyes looking into her soul, holding her captive, making agree to anything she uttered. Veda took it, her feelings, her connection to Marv was getting dangerous, and she didn't know how to tell her.
Maureen appeared next to Veda. "Hey, are you ok?" she asked her mentor. "You know, you don't have to be here, everything is under control, maybe take a few days" Maureen tried to encourage Veda.
"Yeah, no, I am ok, just a lot on my mind" Veda gave her a sheepish smile. "and being here, working, helps me process it" she grabbed a box of new books. "I will put up this display, thanks Maureen," she smiled at her apprentice before walking away.
