Marv woke up to a clear blue sky, a sweet breeze of chlorine, and morning air. She heard a sign next to her and found Veda's face close to hers; she looked so calm and Marv could appreciate the way her round full lips and how her long curved nose caused a shadow over her lips. Veda's hair was like a curtain of silk even after being dredged in chlorine twice and Marv's instinct touched her dry curls with envy. Marv's touch on Veda's arms woke her up, and she looked up at her with a smile, leaving her taken aback.
"We fell asleep outside" Marv shifted, lifting her body.
"Yeah," she smiled in a dream-like state. "Oh, wait, what time is it?" Veda hopped off the pool daybed.
"I don't know" Marv is struggling.
"Fuck, I am late" Veda ran for the bungalow.
Marv raised onto her knees, watching her go. "What about your hair?" she called out after Veda.
"We will do it later," Veda called back again.
