Minjun walked into the living room, frantically texting on his phone. His face in a frown but every now and then he would smile at the screen. Arioch noticed his appearance, a military jacket sat open, showing off the band and leather skirt that wrapped around his thick legs. Nandi walked in, the orange suit made Arioch's eyes hurt, he leaned back watching the two as Nandi applied make-up.
"Where are you going?" he asked with a book on his lap.
"Out, to 'The Pink KiKi '" Nandi smiled softly, putting on her watch.
Arioch nodded "I will keep an eye on…"Marv walked out in a full black bodysuit that had sun and moon embroidered on it, the only color on was gold body chains of crosses "you are going with them?" He pointed to Nandi and Minjuin.
Marv nodded "I want to relax" she explained but Arioch lingered on her wide hips and the chain that wrapped so neatly around them.
Arioch stood "I am coming with" he announced, moving to his room.
The group descended the rainbows stairs where people stood in perfect, colorful or eccentric fashions. Their bodies laid across stair barrels and leaning against walls, the room was lit with different pride flags, there were plants everywhere and mini flags over the bar. It was a neon dream with a dance floor where people were duck walking and death dropping.
The place was crowded with people and the music was blasting through the bar, the lights flashing around the crowd as Marv walked on the cement floors as a woman with dark mascara and pouty lips. She brushed up against Marv with heavenly eyes and a promise on her lips but Arioch grabbed Marv's waist and moved her towards the bar.
Nandi and Minjun had disappeared and Arioch was in full protection mode, he wasn't a fan of bars so he was keeping Marv by his side "if you are uncomfortable with gay bars, we can leave?" he whispered into Marv's ear.
She looked up at him, "Is that a subtle way of asking my preference?" Arioch just gave a deadpan look.
"No" he said straight which made Marv struggle and turned to the crowd "a Whiskey" he threw over her shoulder.
Marv watched Minjun sneak away with some woman and Nandi was talking to a drag queen, she was dressed in 70's love and peace. "I am pan, by the way and you, grumpy pants?" turned to the bar and leaned over with her head on hands.
Arioch just stared down at her "you have the knack for pretending like the afternoon never happened" and she stared up at him like he wasn't making sense. They stared at each for a moment, both fighting to drop the subject "Fine" he moved closer to her "I am vampire, whatever the moon goddess wishes" he dismissed the notions.
Marv just stared at him for a moment "What happened to your soulmate?" she asked in the most monotone, she watched his reaction, he tried to cover it but failed.
Arioch's body stiffened and the glass of that familiar amber liquid caressed his lips "I have no soulmate" his voice came out hoarse and misted the glass.
Marv turned on her heels "now who is keeping secrets" she said, as Nandi grabbed Marv's hand and pulled her to the dance floor.
The moved through the crowd, Nandi sashayed her way through it, moving her hips to the music and calling out as they went. Once they got to the dance floor and Nandi spun Marv out, in again which made Marv giggled.
"Follow me," Nandi whispered against the shell of her ear. Nandi wrapped caressed Marv tummy, then spun her around and pulled her against Nandi's chest "just feel" Nandi said as they began to move against each other.
Marv just closed her eyes and when she opened her eyes, everything seemed distant so all she did was raise her hands. She felt the shiver run down her body and she just forgot, Marv painted the sky with her fingers and marveled at the distant sound of Noah laughing. She spun around and faced Nandi who was laughing, they danced in front of each other with hands flailing around. And making faces at each other until a person catches her eye.
Blonde hair waved around those monolid eyes, those red lips and voguing hands. Her swirling orange dress with orange stocking and chunking heels, she blinked her eyes and Marv took a step back. Instantly Elodie was standing in front of her, with pink lips and sparkling eyelids. The person ducked walked their way into the circle created by the crowd, clapping and hyping them up.
Nandi hollered and nudged Marv, who smiled and tried to get into the mood again but the person swirled around and death dropped, and Marv's heart sank.
"Let's go, babe" Lodie pulled Marv from the bar but she brushed her off "you had enough, Marv" her bright brown eyes and long black hair that fell so lightly on her shoulders.
A guy placed his arm around Marv in his mesh shirt and golden chains "she is fine" he gave Lodie a smile that made her uncomfortable.
"yea" Marv's head bobbed up and down, she could barely see or even comprehend what was happening "I am fine, go home, Lodie" she scoffed and shook her head.
"I am getting Jex" Lodie leaves Marv on the seat, Marv ignores her, not catching two men following Lodie out.
The guy placed his hand on her thigh "so baby, want to get out of here?" he smiles but Marv looks up at his blurry face.
"hands off, I just want to drink" she shooed his hand away but he tightened his grip.
"Maybe a few more drinks will change your mind?" He grinds his teeth.
"No" Marv said, he started to complain "I wanted to drink and forget, you are making me remember" she hissed, but he didn't budge.
"Come on, baby, I can make you forget" he whispered in her ear, which made her grab his arm, stand up and flip him over her shoulder "Ahh!! Bitch!!" he shouted.
"I fucking said no" she shouted as she grabbed her bag and left.
Marv walked out into the night air, she raised her arms and flexed her toes in her shoes before walking down an alleyway. She stumbled about until she saw a person laying in the street. Marv struggled towards it, she was laying on the side, not moving.
"Are you ok?" she asked, looking down at the bright sequin skirt that reminded her of Elodie "my friend has the same skirt as.." she turned the person over and Lodie looked back at her.
Her eyes were faded, her golden skin pale and lifeless, no matter how much the blush of her cheeks tried to convey that she wasn't there anymore "you didn't come" the voice that moved through Lodie throat "I scream and you didn't come" her voice whimper "you were too drunk, you are always too drunk" the corpse began to move and grabbed Marv's neck.
Marv blinked and she was in bed. It was too dark to see anything and too quiet to speak, all she heard was her heartbeat again. Lodie's blushed cheeks were still moving in her mind, Marv just stopped breathing, listening as heart slowed down, her nose flared and her mind became cloudy.
"don't do that" a deep voice broke through the silence. Marv let out gasp for air then felt the pillow she was laying on, it was nothing but skin. She wanted to object, to move away from him "breath, Marv" he whispered against her hair. "Sleep, Kanna" he breathed out in a growl.
And Marv just slept, like a spell fell on her eyes and they closed.
