The stone-white ceiling was making images move through Marv's mind. Veda lay next to Marv, sound asleep, exhausted from her emotions, but Marv had been wide awake since the clock struck twelve. She just lay there listening to the waves break against the shore. They were calling her to the sea, but Marv felt guilty about enjoying her, especially today, not today.
Marv finally rose from the bed, but Veda's arms held onto her waist. "Where are you going" Veda growled, which almost made Marv snuggle back into her, but she couldn't.
"Just the bathroom," she whispered, as Veda slowly released Marv and she left the vampire to sleep.
