Veda woke up to a wind rushing around her. She lifted her head and found Lace behind the steering wheel, fear evident on her face, but her eyes focused on the task at hand. Veda sprung up, remembering the shot that played over and over in her mind, the shot that hit Marv. She turned to Lace, who finally noticed Veda was awake.
"I took my eyes off of you for one second," Lace shouted over the loud wind.
"Where is Marv?" Veda asked, still trying to gather herself.
"She is in the back," Lace said, nodding her head backward. Veda moved to go back there. "Don't go back there" Lace placed her hands between the two front seats.
"I need to check if she is ok" Veda turned to Lace, who had a pity look.
Lace grabbed Veda's hand. "She is breathing, she is stable" Lace looked into Veda's eyes. "trust me"
