Chapter 2 - Whispers of Rebellion

Suddenly, the odd feeling was gone, and his feet came into contact with the ground.

As he opened his eyes, he found himself standing in the middle of a circular platform with the strange symbol painted on the floor.

He saw a gate leading into a wide alley with a medieval-like castle in the end, Hawkers shouting loudly about all kinds of goods, but then he noticed the most obvious thing: the sky was red.

Jonathan stood there, bewildered by his surroundings. The bustling marketplace, the towering castle, and the crimson sky painted a scene that was both enchanting and unsettling.

He took a tentative step forward, his senses overwhelmed by the sights, sounds, and smells of this unfamiliar world. The air was filled with the aroma of spices, herbs, and freshly baked goods. The hawkers' cries mingled with the chatter of passersby, creating a cacophony of noise that was both exhilarating and overwhelming.

As he ventured deeper into the marketplace, Jonathan couldn't help but stare at the sky. The crimson hue was unlike anything he had ever seen before. It was as if the very heavens were bleeding.

He asked a nearby merchant about the strange sky, but the man simply shrugged and said, "It's always been this way."

Jonathan was about to ask more questions when he was suddenly jostled by a crowd of people rushing past him. He turned to see a group of armed guards escorting a prisoner through the marketplace.

The prisoner was a young man with long, flowing hair and piercing blue eyes. He was chained at the wrists and ankles, and his head was held high, even in the face of his captors.

As the prisoner passed by, Jonathan caught a glimpse of his face. There was a look of determination in his eyes, a look that said he would not be easily broken.

Jonathan felt a strange connection to the prisoner, as if they were somehow linked by fate. He couldn't explain it, but he knew that he had to help him.

As the guards led the prisoner away, Jonathan slipped into the crowd and followed them. He knew that he was taking a risk, but he couldn't just stand by and do nothing.

The guards took the prisoner to the castle, and Jonathan followed them inside. He managed to sneak into the dungeons, where he found the prisoner being held in a cell.

The prisoner was sitting on the floor, his head in his hands. He looked up when Jonathan entered the cell, and his eyes widened in surprise.

"Who are you?" the prisoner asked.

"My name is Jonathan," Jonathan replied. "I'm here to help you."

The prisoner looked at Jonathan skeptically. "Why would you help me?" he asked. "You don't even know me."

"I know," Jonathan said. "But I felt a connection to you. I know that you're in trouble, and I want to help."

The prisoner hesitated for a moment, then said, "My name is Aric. I'm a rebel fighting against the tyranny of the regent."

"I can help you escape," Jonathan said. "But we have to move quickly. The guards will be back soon."

Aric nodded. "I'm ready," he said.

Jonathan helped Aric to his feet, and they made their way out of the cell. They crept through the dungeons, avoiding the guards, and eventually made it to the entrance of the castle.

As they stepped out into the night air, Jonathan took a deep breath of freedom. He knew that they were still in danger, but he also knew that they had a chance to escape.

Aric turned to Jonathan and said, "Thank you for helping me. I will never forget what you have done."

Jonathan smiled. "It was my pleasure," he said. "Now come on, let's get out of here."

"'Where do you want to go?" asked Arik.

I'm not from around here; I don't know the area yet. said Jonathan, Do you know where we can go?

I know a place where we'll be safe, but it's a top secret: I can take us to the rebel headquarters.

"That would be great if you could take me there," Jonathan said, his voice brimming with anticipation and eagerness to learn more about this world.

Aric nodded. "Follow me," he said, and he led Jonathan through the winding streets of the city. They avoided the main roads, sticking to the back alleys and hidden passageways.

After what seemed like hours, they finally arrived at a nondescript building in a quiet corner of the city. Aric knocked on a hidden door, and a moment later, they were ushered inside.

The rebel headquarters was a bustling hive of activity. People were coming and going, carrying weapons and supplies. There was a sense of urgency in the air, as if everyone was preparing for a battle.

Aric led Jonathan to a meeting room where a group of rebels were gathered around a table. They looked up as Aric and Jonathan entered the room.

"Aric," one of the rebels said. "Who is this?"

"This is Jonathan," Aric said. "He's a friend of the rebellion."

The rebels looked at Jonathan with curiosity.

"Welcome, Jonathan," one of the rebels said. "We are grateful for your support."

Jonathan nodded. "I'm honored to be here," he said. "I want to do whatever I can to help the rebellion."

The rebels smiled. "We have a lot of work to do," one of them said. "But with your help, we can achieve victory."

Jonathan felt a surge of determination. He knew that he had found his place in this world. He was a rebel, and he would fight for freedom.

After that, Jonathan and Arik were left alone in the meeting room, so... started Arik, you said that you aren't from here, right?

Yes, said Jonathan.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you from?

I am from New York City, in the United States of America.

Where? asked Arik, totally confused.

Don't you know where the USA is?

"The U S what?" asked Arik. "How did you get here?"

I went into an alley when I saw a woman cutting her hand and touching a shiny blue symbol on the wall. I've clicked the symbol myself, and then I've found myself on the platform in the alley. I've just started to explore the area when I saw you, and then I came to help you.

Do you even know about the abyss? the regent? the rebel?

I'm sorry, said Jonathan, but I don't know anything about this place, and what is the abyss?

The abyss is the place where magical creatures from all the worlds meet each other.

The abyss is ruled by the immortal king, but he disappeared 16 years ago.

In the last 16 years, the regent has officially taken the throne.

The Regent is a powerful sorcerer who has seized control of the Abyss in the absence of the Immortal King. He is a ruthless and ambitious ruler who seeks to dominate all of the worlds.

The rebels are a group of warriors who oppose the Regent's tyranny. They fight for freedom and justice, and they believe that the Immortal King will one day return to reclaim his throne.

Are you still with me? Ask Arik when he sees the gaze on Jonathan's face.

I was just trying to get the ideas of Multiverse, Rebel, and Regent, and all of that answered Jonas.

That's a lot to take in. Do you want to take a short break, and then we will continue?

Jonathan nodded, feeling overwhelmed by the information he had just received. He had never imagined that such a place as the Abyss existed, and he was still trying to wrap his head around the concept of multiple worlds.

"Yes, please," he said. "I need a few minutes to process all of this."

Aric smiled understandingly. "Of course," he said. "We'll be here when you're ready."

Jonathan took a deep breath and closed his eyes, trying to make sense of everything he had learned. He knew that he had a lot to learn about the Abyss, the rebels, and the Regent, but he was determined to help in any way he could.

After a few minutes, Jonathan opened his eyes and looked at Aric.

"I'm ready," he said. "Let's continue."
