"I need to tell you something very important Maria." Joe said as he adjusted the glasses that was always on the bridge of his nose.
"No Joe, you are not escaping this one." Maria said in a warning tone and Joe sighed in defeat.
"I have no excuses and I'm sorry for going MIA on Maria." Joe said like a robot doing its programmed task.
Maria giggled on the other side and a small smile etched on Joe's lips.
Had he looked as good as he looked now back in college, he'd be the one next to Maria as her husband and not that dead weight excuse of a man.
"Can we meet up tomorrow, we have a lot of catching up to do." Joe said and Maria knew there were some hidden words in that simple sentence.
"Sure, why not. Billie's Hut, two o'clock sharp, just like the old days." Maria said in a distant tone and Joe nodded in the affirmative.
"Definitely, goodbye." Joe said and knowing Maria wouldn't answer, he cut the call.
