Elena is a young thirteen old girl from an urban town in Masacar.

She lives with her stepmother as her mother died when birthing her. Ele is what people called her. She goes to school at the next town by walking three miles.

This morning her step mother had given her a lot of chores to complete and she's to get to the school early as she had to do a presentation worth 30 marks.

"Elenna!! " Aunt Sarah shouted 

"Yes mom" , Ele answered feeling tired and scared because of the tone Aunt Sarah used.

"How many times have I told you not to leave the dishes on the table?"

Elena was about to answer, but words didn't even leave her mouth as a thundering slap landed on her left cheeck.She stumbled and fell on her butt.
