"So, you do have such rare items just laying around your house like it's nothing huh father?" said Jack with a smirk on his face as he saw Clara bringing over a piece of old-looking paper. David didn't get a very good feeling after seeing Jack smirk, he didn't say anything though.
"So what oath do you want me to make father?" asked Jack with a solemn face.
"All I want is for you to swear an oath saying that you will never try to cause harm to this kid. In return, I will swear to help you with whatever you are doing. That's all I ask for just the survival of the kid." Said David with conviction.
"No that's not going to work, I need both of your cooperation. This is a very big project that I am working on, you two should be proud of working with me on such a grand scale." Said Jack with a nasty grin on his face.
"Alright, I will accept that." Siad Clara looked at Renji who was knocked out on the floor, she had some tears in her eyes but she was holding onto them.
"Well then alright have my blood then, I never in a million years imagined that this would be this easy. I was planning in my head how I would have to hold one of you hostage to work with me, but this boy came and made things so much easier for me," said Jack as he cut his hand with a knife, blood started coming out of his wound without showing a sign of stopping but he didn't care about any of that. His gaze was fixed on Renji the whole time.
Clara collected blood from both David and Jack in a bowl and started writing words on the piece of paper, the words she wrote were not of the native language of the world but she used some kind of ancient language. As she kept writing the words written with blood started to shine red and disappear as if nothing was written on it in the first place.
"You know Mother I don't know how to read ancient language so don't take advantage of this." Siad Jack as he snickered.
"I see that your intelligence has not increased with your age, you are the same as you were a child." Siad Clara without even looking back at Jack, if she had looked at him she would have been able to see his eyes suddenly turn blood red for a split second. Just as his eyes turned red one of the men he came here with who had his mask on patted his shoulder, as soon as he did so Jack's red eyes completely vanished as if nothing had ever happened.
"You know that even if you don't understand the language, before signing the contract you will have a notice pup up on your status. It will explain everything that is written you don't need to worry." Siad the masked man, although it seemed like he was just giving advice Jack felt something other than the good will. Jack's neck suddenly felt cold as if someone had poured ice on his neck, his entire body had goosebumps. He dared not look back at the person as he just nodded in agreement.
"How many years should this agreement last?" asked Clara as she looked both at the parties.
"For 20 years the maximum." Said David.
"For 8 years, I only need your help for 5-6 years so 2 years extra for insurance. There is no need to make this contract last longer, I don't want to suffer any backlash for signing a long pact." Siad Jack.
"Only 8 years is just too little what if you try using this kid again as leverage once the contract is over?" asked Clara with a very frustrated voice, she was starting to lose patience.
"We won't go looking for the child nor will we be able to use this child's life as leverage after this to force you, information about this child and the pact made here will remain between just us present here. We are to never speak of this day to anyone. Write that down as one of the clauses as well." Siad the same masked man who patted Jack's shoulder earlier.
Clara looked at Jack for confirmation, he just nodded and didn't voice any other opinion after the masked man had spoken up. Clara completed writing up the oath, it took several minutes for her to finish.
"Alright, all of you hold either side of the paper and tear it." Siad Clara as she extended the paper, everyone present in the room had their hands on the paper they tore it at the same time.
"With this, the contract had been completed," said Clara as she moved towards Renji, she took him into her arms took him to his room, and left him on the bed. Before leaving she kissed his head and slowly whispered into his ears.
"We will be alright don't worry about us, take care of your family, just forget us from now on." She kissed his forehead and stroked his hair as he left the room crying. Soon after she left David came into the room and stroked his hair as he looked at Renji's face, he had tears welled up in his eyes but he didn't let a single drop of tear fall to the ground.
.........................................
"Gran..." Screamed Renji as he woke up from his deep slumber, as soon as he woke up he started searching for the old couple all around the house but in the end, no one was there. Today was the day after the event, Renji had slept through the entire day.
Like a lunatic Renji didn't just stop his search after searching the house, he went outside the house. He had no idea where he was going but he started to wander around the forest with no sense of direction, currently, it was late night and he could only see 1-2 meters in front of him but that didn't even stop him. He was already out of his mind, he didn't care about anything, he just wanted to see the old couple once again.
Throughout the years that he had spent with the old couple, they had made him feel like he was part of their family. So, Renji too had started to think of them as a family. his mind was a total mess right now, all he wanted to do was scream and call them but nothing helped.
-GRRRRR-
Renji looked back instantly as he heard a sound of growling coming from behind him, in the dark of the night all he could see was a pair of glowing green eyes. Before Renji could even react, the Eyes suddenly moved from the place and landed a little back from where he was standing earlier.
It was as if the hunter had realized that the prey had taken notice of its presence, so it had to move back.
Renji slowly bent down and picked up a branch of a tree that was on the ground, slowly after picking the branch, he started to move back carefully.
