Chapter 10 - Episode 7 (1) Answer

It was Wednesday, and I was entering my third day of work as a librarian.

By the third day, I was able to handle the lending work to a certain extent and returned the books to the shelves. Even though I was unsure about the work, I managed to do it by myself.

"The loan period is one week. Thank you."

After saying that and seeing off the male student who had come to borrow a book, I let out a sigh of relief.

However, since I'm a shy person, it's still a bit of a hurdle for me, so before I take a sip, I must mentally prepare myself and take a deep breath after I've sipped it.

I wish I could say it as smoothly as Kobayashi-senpai sitting next to me...

"what?"

"Ah, no-"

I was staring intently at Kobayashi-senpai's profile, so I hurriedly made up an excuse.

"I'm jealous of how dignified you are."

Well, if I were to put my feelings from earlier into words, that would be it. I'm glad I was able to put it into words.

"After all, we did it last year too. Minase-san will naturally do the same when he becomes a second year student."

"Is that so?"

Whether it's my second or third year, I feel like I'll always be myself...

"I'm sure Minase-san is serious person"

"Huh? Yes. That's often said."

In a good way or a bad way...

"I only believe that the job of a librarian should be as long as you don't make any mistakes, and even if you do make a mistake, I think there are almost no irreparable mistakes.''

Well, it's true that even if I call it a mistake, it's at best something like forgetting to swipe the barcode on one of two books, or putting the book back in the wrong place, and there's no way to get it back. If you ask me if it was a simple mistake, I can't help but question it.

``Of course, you shouldn't make any mistakes, but you won't be expelled from school, so you should just take it easy to a certain extent.''

surprised. I thought Kobayashi-senpai was more of an honor student type, but it turns out she wasn't.

"Kobayashi-senpai is surprisingly..."

"sloppy?"

"No, that's not true."

Well, I was trying to say something similar, but the nuance of the words were very different.

``There are two meanings to ``sloppy''. One is ``proper'' and the other is literally ``sloppy''.I personally think I'm sloppy.''

"Sloppy and sloppy"

I see. To put it bluntly, it tends to be used in a negative sense, but originally the latter meaning was stronger. In other words, it is important to use just the right amount of force in everything.

``Later, I've been wondering if Kobayashi-senpai will stop him?''

"Hmm?"

Well then, what should I call it...

"There are several members of the library committee named Kobayashi, right? So, please call me by my name."

"?"

It is also a very difficult proposal for me. However, since that's what she's saying from the other side, it would be even more difficult to choose not to call him here, and people will probably think that he's a kid who can't read the atmosphere.

Okay. I'm sure Kobayashi-senpai's last name is...

"Rion senpai"

"Yeah. That's fine."

When I called her name, Kobayashi--Rion-senpai said that in a playful manner.

"By the way, can I call you by your first name?"

"Huh? Ah, yes. Please."

"Thank you. Io-chan."

Io-chan. What a wonderful sound. I wonder how much virtue I had accumulated in my previous life, to be called properly by an older and more beautiful senior. It may be an exaggeration, but that's how impressed I was right now.

"yeah?"

Rion-senpai suddenly looked towards the doorway and raised her voice.

"What's up?"

In response to that, I also looked beyond Rion-senpai's line of sight, but there was nothing of particular interesting to me.

"No, it's nothing. I think it was just my imagination."

"is that so?"

If Rion-senpai says so, then it must be so.

.....

There was something strange about Hayasaka san that day.

I don't know if I could call her grumpy, but it's not new for Hayasaka san to appear in the classroom with a Buddha-like face, but it still seemed different to me than usual.

She was not behaving that way when she left the classroom after school yesterday, so if anything happened, it would have been at home afterwards. I don't know what happened, but maybe l'll try to find out a little bit about it during lunch.

--That's what I was thinking, but no matter how long I waited, Hayasaka san never appeared in front of me during my lunch break.

So, in other words, am I the reason why Hayasaka-san is in a bad mood?

I don't remember it too much, already I was panic.

In the first place, I haven't had any contact with Hayasaka-san since lunch break, so there shouldn't be any timing to make her grumpy...

Is that it? Is in a bad mood because I didn't do anything? No, if that's the case, I'm completely out of luck. It would be one thing if there was some kind of foreshadowing, but on the day you said something like that without giving a hint, I was as surprised as I was stunned .

Well, actually, I don't even know how I'll react when I find out...

For now, just ask, ``What's wrong? " I sent a line saying "

 The reply came quickly.

`` Nothing "

Yeah. This is another troublesome reply. I couldn't make any predictions from this one sentence alone, so I had to investigate further.

 What should I send?

"Did I do something to make Hayasaka-san angry? "

I thought about sending a more roundabout message, but in the end I decided to go straight.

Belly probing was never my forte.

"This is more of a problem for me."

My problem? What do you mean? Am I involved in that or am I not?

I couldn't think of what to say after that, and the conversation between the two of us stopped there.

After returning to the classroom, I tried several times to make direct contact with her, but I just couldn't muster up the courage, and before I knew it, it was after school.

When homeroom was over, Hayasaka-san went home as usual. All I could do was watch her go by.

"..."

I'm disgusted with my lack of courage.

"huh"

Sighing, I finally left my seat.

I really didn't understand. If I had any idea of the reason for this, I would be able to accept it and reflect on it, but this time there was none of that, and all I could do was be confused.
