Chereads / Zombolution: Unleash the Undying Power / Chapter 30 - Mysterious Two Men

Chapter 30 - Mysterious Two Men

Zorvax and Ophelia stood facing each other in the dimly lit, steel-walled room. Zorvax couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as he gazed upon the powerful zombie elementalist he had just summoned. Ophelia, with her pale grey skin, black eyes, and dark hair, had an otherworldly beauty that caught his attention.

Ophelia's black eyes, mirroring Zorvax's, met his gaze as she acknowledged her new master. Her voice was calm and composed as she spoke, "So, you are my master."

Zorvax blinked in surprise but then quickly recovered. "You know me?" he inquired, genuinely curious about how Ophelia had come to know him.

"Yes," Ophelia replied, her voice unwavering. "There is some strange power that gave me information about you."

Inwardly, Zorvax realized it must be the system that had provided Ophelia with knowledge about him. It made sense, considering that the system seemed to control and facilitate the evolution and summoning processes.

Zorvax couldn't help but wonder about Ophelia's past. He was curious if she had any recollection of her previous life, and he decided to ask her about it. "Ophelia," he inquired, "do you remember anything from your past?"

Ophelia looked pensive for a moment before shaking her head. "I'm sorry, Master, but I don't remember anything about my past. It's as if my past life is shrouded in darkness."

Zorvax sighed, understanding that Ophelia's lack of memory was a common condition among zombies. Many of them awoke to this new existence with no knowledge of their past lives, a blank slate to the world.

With a reassuring tone, Zorvax spoke to Ophelia. "That's okay, Ophelia. You have a new life now, and together, we'll face the challenges of this world."

Zorvax felt it was best for them to leave the base and the cramped room. He gestured toward the exit and said, "Let's go, Ophelia. We need to leave this place first."

As Zorvax and Ophelia left the dimly lit room, the world outside greeted them with a stark contrast of harsh sunlight. The bright, blinding rays pierced through the heavy layers of dust, filling the air with an eerie, otherworldly glow. The base of the Green Eagle Group was now a desolate place, void of any signs of life, except for the lingering presence of the undead.

Zorvax led the way, his colossal bone sword slung over his shoulder, and Ophelia followed closely, her features devoid of emotion. The landscape before them was barren and desolate, with shattered buildings and debris scattered everywhere, remnants of the world that once was.

Silence enveloped them as they navigated through the eerie stillness of the post-apocalyptic world. There was a heaviness to the air, a constant reminder of the dire situation they found themselves in. Zorvax couldn't help but think about how the world had changed and what kind of future lay ahead.

Amid the desolation of the Green Eagle Group's base, the silence was finally disrupted by the sudden arrival of two mysterious figures. They emerged from the shadows, cloaked in heavy coats, their faces adorned with unusual tattoos. On the cheek of one figure, the tattoo read "1," while the other bore the mark "2."

The one with "2," referred to as Beta cast an intrigued gaze toward the decaying ruins around them. His voice dripped with anticipation as he addressed his partner, Alpha. "So, she's here, huh?"

Alpha, the one marked as "1," nodded in response, his demeanor more composed compared to Beta's evident enthusiasm. "Yes, she is here. Surprisingly, this place used to be a base for survivors," Alpha remarked, his tone carrying a tinge of intrigue as he surveyed the surroundings.

Beta's face twisted into a sinister smile, his anticipation growing as he contemplated the prospect of a new challenge. "Do I get to have some fun, Alpha? Do I get to kill them all?"

Alpha, with a calm and calculated demeanor, quashed Beta's expectations. "No need for that, Beta. I feel no presence here; the survivors are already dead."

Beta's initial enthusiasm faded slightly, replaced with a sense of impatience. "Is that so? No fun," he mumbled, his eagerness to unleash destruction momentarily curbed.

Alpha, ever the pragmatist, focused on their mission. "I'll let you indulge your urges later," he said to Beta. "But for now, our priority is to retrieve her."

Beta's eyes gleamed with an eagerness to fulfill the task at hand. "Alright."

As the two enigmatic figures moved deeper into the forsaken base, the eerie quiet of the post-apocalyptic world was once again disrupted. The contrasting natures of Alpha's calculated calm and Beta's unhinged chaos hinted at the secrets that lay buried within the ruins of the Green Eagle Group's base.

Alpha and Beta, shrouded in their distinct tattoos and enigmatic purpose, delved deeper into the winding corridors of the once-vibrant Green Eagle Group base. Their relentless pursuit of an unknown objective drove them onward, despite the surprises that awaited them.

After navigating through a labyrinth of interconnected chambers and passageways, they finally arrived at the damaged steel door. The sight sent a ripple of disbelief through Alpha, who was renowned for his unwavering composure.

He couldn't contain his astonishment as he surveyed the scene, his usually calm features marred by perplexity. "How can it be possible?" he questioned, his disbelief evident in his voice and expression. "This steel door was a fortified barrier, practically invulnerable to any force. Not even a tank could break through it."

As his gaze remained fixed on the twisted wreckage of the once-impregnable door, Alpha couldn't help but search for answers in vain.

Quick to react, Alpha turned to his unpredictable companion, Beta, who embodied impulsiveness and unpredictability in stark contrast to Alpha's calm demeanor. "Beta," he instructed urgently, "go inside and see if she's here. I mean a skeleton."

Beta, ever the embodiment of erratic energy, readily complied, darting into the room and scanning the area with a frenetic yet efficient pace. His swift movements mirrored his volatile nature, and he spared no detail in his thorough inspection.

After his meticulous examination, Beta's voice rang out, laced with growing frustration. "Damn it, Alpha. She's not here."

The stark reality of their situation hit Alpha hard. His usually unshakable resolve seemed to waver, and he couldn't help but mutter in continued disbelief, "How can this be?"

The conversation between Alpha and Beta, a striking contrast between poise and unpredictability, unfolded amidst the inexplicable scene before them. Their voices and expressions reflected the growing dilemma and the urgent need for answers in their enigmatic pursuit.
