"Hey, Zoey!" a girl walked over, her sweet smile lighting up her nature. Her hair fluttered gracefully. She is Zoey's best friend, Alicia Addyson. It's her name, but, unfortunately, she has never been lucky in love.
A girl whom she called was sitting at the cafeteria table. Her name is Gabriella Zoey, and someone who doesn't know her well would call her Gabriella. That's why Alicia calls her Zoey."
"Oh my God, look at her face. It clearly shows she knows something new," Zoey said. "I know what you want to tell, spill the tea, right now," she urged Alicia.
"I found someone on a dating app!" She said, looking at Zoey with her gummy smile and continuously tapping her feet out of excitement.
"Chit-Chat app? Are you serious? Are you still waiting for a man to marry you from that app? That's insane!" Zoey said in disbelief, feeling annoyed by Alicia's innocent face that still held hope for the app.
Alicia's face became disapointed.
"Why? I've never lost anything by meeting new people because I do it for love," she said, staring at Zoey seriously.
"Oh, God. I can't believe it. Every time you talk about love, you've always been cheated by a man, do you know that?" Zoey commented to Alicia.
Alicia is silent, she lets out a big sigh.
"Okay, if you think I'm a girl who's very interested in love, that's right, and I'm feeling so bored."
"That's why I'm still your friend." Zoey interrupted with a smile and said, "So, what's your plan?"
"Should I meet him this sunday?" Alicia asked, smiling.
Meanwhile, somewhere of the boy who had promised to meet Alicia was meeting with his close friend.
" You know, this girl is very beautiful. I hope she has a girlfriend for you. Are you never tired of being alone?" he said while staring and running his fingers through his black hair.
"I don't care, it's all about destiny, Alan." said the boy, who only cares about his laptop.
"You must accompany me to meet her this Sunday!"
"What I get from accompany you? It's such a waste of my time." the boy said it without turning even slightly.
"As usual, or maybe you'll get a girlfriend," Alan said, smiling very confidently.
The boy stared seriously at Alan, his eyes squinting. A few seconds later, he turned his face away while saying, "Unconvincing."
"C'mon man!"
On Sunday morning, as Alicia waited in front of the glass, her face lit up in anticipation of meeting her true love.
Suddenly, the phone rang loudly, jolting Zoey awake, as if it were an alarm, when she looks at her phone there are fifty missed calls from Alicia, Zoey got out of bed rushing to get ready until she headed to the dining table for breakfast.
An elderly woman, dressed in a red knitted sweater with expertly coiled hair, skillfully flips the eggs she's cooking. Upon seeing Zoey seated, she presents a plate of buttered toast with a selection of fruit preserves.
She looked at her daughter after adjusting her glasses and said, "Why do you look so messy?"
"I don't know, Mom. Maybe it's because I just woke up, and my mood is all over the place," Zoey said while munching down her food eagerly.
Gently tapping Zoey's hand as she held the fork then she said, "Hey, stay calm when you're eating. Is there something wrong? Why are you rushing frantically?"
A few minutes later, with no response from Zoey and her mother being busy with her laptop.
At that moment Zoey called her mother, "Mom, can you please stop writing novels? Our lives have been thrown into your novels. All of my friends know that I never had a good father in my whole life. I just want to talk about my upcoming graduation, and I hope Mom contacts Dad if it's possible."
There's no response from her mother, Zoey staring at her mom and then Zoey set the fork down in frustration and left her mother, who was still taken aback by her behavior.
A few moments later, Zoey descended the stairs and left without saying a word to her mother.
Her mother staring at the door with a sense of pity, she looked at Zoey's shadow with a teary eyes she said, "I'm sorry, Zoey. It's definitely my fault. I'm doing my best for you, even though there's no father in your life."
As Zoey left her house, she walked slowly and picked up her phone, looking at Alicia's number.
Alicia's phone is ringing.
"Hel-" Alicia began, but Zoey swiftly interrupted, demanding, "Where are you? We must meet right now, just the two of us."
"Where-"
The call abruptly ended.
With frustration and anger towards her mother, Zoey walked, each step a forceful stomp, drawing the attention of those around her. Suddenly, she noticed an innocent stone, and with her high heels, she kicked it. Boom! she got a biggest suprize!
"Hey! Are you crazy? Did you know what you just kicked?" two boys glared at Zoey intensely as one of them shouted for a free kick from Zoey. What about his friend? A swollen bump adorned his forehead.
Zoey was silenced by embarrassment, covering her face with her blazer, while the two boys stood not far from her still looking at each other, only his friend's forehead was injured by that small stone.
In the heat of the moment, Zoey hurriedly ran away as she continued to walk, while a boy's voice loudly shouted at her. Every word faded into the distance, leaving behind a single sentence, "If you meet one of us later, just wait and see what will happen!"
After the unexpected moment, the boy looked at his friend, "Oh, man. How did you get injured by a free kick from that girl? I don't think we can call her just a girl, she seems stronger than us."
The friend of the boy felt a bit awkward and let go of his embrace. While enduring the pain on his forehead, he said, "Well, that was an unexpected moment. At least, I feel this might be a sign that we'll run into her more often."
Zoey's phone is ringing, it's a voice call from Alicia.
"Alicia, it's not the right time to talk. Where are you now? I feel embarrassed." Zoey initiated the conversation with an urgent tone.
After knowing that Alicia had arrived at the location, Zoey hurriedly covered her face. She was afraid of encountering the two men.
Five minutes later, Zoey arrives at the location and meets Alicia. Alicia is staring at Zoey with many questions she wants to ask, trying to learn what happened with her best friend.
'She's not in good mood.' Alicia murmurs worriedly.
"So what happened?" the first sentence Alicia says, expressing the many questions in her mind
"I'm doing the dumbest thing!" Zoey says with an expression disbelief, she bows down and covers both of her ears.
"What?"Alicia responds with full confusion.
In the minutes, Zoey has been talking and the last thing for the end of her silly story is Alicia laughing
"How can?" Alicia wipes away her tears.
"I feel even more embarrassed right now. I should have never told you, I'm sick of seeing you laugh so hard." Zoey says, planting her right foot while giving Alicia a sarcastic look, who is still laughing.
"Pure entertainment from a forgetful Zoey, so I'll never make you forget this incident. My stomach is truly shaking." Alicia says, wiping her tears once more.
"So what's the time both of you meet?" Zoey changes the topic of the conversation.
"Exactly twenty minutes from now, and we're meeting at Midnight Mugs Cafe." Alicia says while sipping her latte coffee.
"Seriously? At there? You don't know one of the workers right?" Zoey responds in surprise and looks displeased at Alicia while folding her hands.
"Do you mean, the barista on that day, Zoey?"
"Silence, that's a nauseating story." Zoey said while turning her face away.
Alicia stares at Zoey for a while, who wears a frustrated expression upon hearing about the place again, even hesitating to come after the incident.
"Zoey, what are we going to do? Just stand here or do something? I'm getting bored." Alicia says while resting her head on her right arm.
Zoey continues to gaze outside and only glances at Alicia, responding,"Stand by here, we're just waiting for a while."
"Anyway did you know his face? I mean the boy you wanted to meet." Zoey stares at Alicia, hoping she will take out her cellphone.
With an innocent expression, Alicia takes a moment to think and responds, "I think he once sent me a picture."
'Please, God. Don't tell me that's the boy I ever met before.' Zoey murmurs, pleading.
A few moments later, Alicia presents her bright phone screen to Zoey, and with a surprised reaction, Zoey exclaims loudly, "Oh My Dear God, is that human? Are you blinded because of your love? Do you think this person still a human? Did you ever see a human with this filter? I'm truly shocked."
Alicia gazes at Zoey, who is unconsciously standing up from her chair and pacing nervously, while Alicia is engulfed in confusion.
