Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Allen woke up tired, he didn't really want to get out of bed, but he had to. Dragging himself out of bed, the made it using magic as he used to do before he found out it was magic and treated them as psychic powers. Then went to the bathroom to take a shower, afterwards, he changed clothes and picked up all of his books and put them in his backpack.

I wanna learn the light-weight charm as soon as possible. Were his thoughts as he exited the dormitory into the common room. No one was up yet, so he took the oportunity to flee to the great hall.

In the walk from the dungeons to the great hall, Allen pulled out his wand, and casted the Wand Raising Charm on his wand.

The wand responded in kind, sending him a wave of joy, telling him it enjoyed the magic.

Allen chuckled a bit and continued to walk.

One thing that happened yesterday and that he only realized is that he could have his magic active without seeing all the blinding lights around him. Most probably because of the stress. He could still see the lights if he wished to do so, all he had to do is concentrate and the inner light of everyone would shine, or even the castle.

He continued to walk in the stone floor towards the Great Hall, Allen didn't actually know what time was it, but he assumed it was fairly early, since none of his roomates woke up yet.

When he crossed the double doors, he saw a couple of older students with books around the table, more likely studying for what was about to come for them, their N.E.W.T.s or something O.W.L.s, he couldn't believe people started studying in the first day of school, so he made a mental note to study just as hard to not fall behind.

Allen walked over to the Slytherin table, receiving questioning looks from the other students, but they decided to ignore him, focusing more on their breakfast and books.

He let out a relieved sigh and proceeded to eat a plate of bacon with eggs. Halfway through his breakfast, he got thirsty, but didn't really want to try the pumpkin juice so he decided to try talking to any of the house elves in the kitchen, to see if they would listen to him.

"Umm, can I get orange juice or water instead?" He asked at the air, and two cups of glass appeared in front of him, one full of orange juice and the other full of water.

Allen surpised that it actually worked, thanked the elves before continuing his breakfast.

After finishing his breakfast, Allen wanted to go to the first class he would have that morning, but couldn't do it since he had to wait for Professor Snape to give him his time table.

Sighing to himself, Allen took out the transfiguration book, it might not be the first class he has, but he clearly remembers being one of the first ones Harry Potter and his friends have in the first week of their education.

He continued to read it until more and more students arrived at the Great Hall, then, two boys sat across him.

"Hey mate, why didn't you wake us up?" Asked William as he sat down and served himself some bacon with eggs.

"I agree with William, I would have liked for you to wake us up" Agreed Armand, serving himself some porridge.

"Sorry, I just… have a lot on my mind, will do it from now on"

They both raised an eyebrow, giving him a questioning look "Alright, but you can count on us if you need to say something, alright?"

"Yeah, thanks" Said Allen as he finished the last of his juice.

"When are we getting our time tables?"

"Well, we should be getting them ten minutes before we start class" Responded Armand.

"Are we gonna have enough time to reach the classroom?"

"I suppose they would give us a bit of leeway for being first years, and the first class, wouldn't they?" Said Armand, as he continued to eat his breakfast.

Allen just nodded along, and continued reading his transfiguration book. After a few minutes, Professor Snape arrived at the table where most of the first years were, he passed their time tables but left Allen for the end.

"Mr Lionheart, classes end at four o'clock, I expect you to be in the potions classroom before four fifteen, am I clear?"

"Yes Professor" Allen answered.

"Good, now move along, don't be late on your first day" Snape turned back towards the faculty table.

"I don't think I like Professor Snape very much" Said Allen, letting out a long breath.

Hmm, he can be a bit overbearing, but his skills in potions are the real deal" Answered Armand, putting his his bowl to the side.

"You know him?" Asked William.

"Yes, he's my brother's godfather, so he comes a few times over the summer"

Allen moved a hand to his head, scratching it. That's right, Draco is Snape's godson, how could I forget that? But is that even relevant information?

William ate the last of his food and looked at their friends "Should we get going then? Don't wanna be late for the first class" after all"

They all picked up their bags and headed outside the Great Hall. As they continued walking through the hall, Allen wondered if either of them knew where the classroom was.

"Umm, guys, do you know where the classroom is?" Allen asked them.

"Uh, I was following Armand"

"Wha- I was following you, William"

A silence lingered in the air and Allen dropped his shoulders "Let me ask an older student"

He looked around a corner and was able to see two students, more likely older than him by their height, he walked towards them "Hey, excuse me, do you know where the charm classroom is?"

The two older students looked down at Allen, wondering who was interrupting them, but then they saw him, the first year who lighted the Sorting Hat on fire.

"It's you! The firstie you almost burned the Sorting Hat!"

"It is him, hey, why'd you do it?"

"Umm, no, I just want to know where the ch-"

"Come one, tell us and we'll show you where the classroom is"

Allen sighed and walked back towards his friends "Nevermind then, I'll find it on my own"

"Ah! C'mon. Don't be rude mate! It was just a question!"

"Yea, what he said!"

Allen wondered for how much he would have to endure these kind of questions, to make it worse, it was the first two people who asked him, and he was already tired.

He came back to his friends "Any luck?" Asked Armand, but Allen just shook his head.

"Well, its okay, we can try to ask a ghost or something"

They continued to walk around, climbing the moving stone stairs, the walls full of paintings, some talked to each other, and others just stayed silent, that was when it occurred to Allen.

"Wait!" He exclaimed, making the two boys stop in their tracks, they looked back, wondering what was going on "We can ask the portraits"

"Ah! You are right! Since there are no portraits at my home, they just felt like paintings"

"Hmm, very well, excuse me sir" Armand turned around and talked to the first portrait that he saw.

A couple of portraits looked back at the boys, wondering who had the gall to interrupt them in the first place, then, after seeing that they were just first year students, their demeanor changed. "Yes, what can I do for you?"

"We were wondering if you could us where the charms classroom is?" Asked Allen.

"Ah, yes, the charms classroom, third floor, classroom 2E, if you don't hurry you'll be late" Finished the portrait, walking to another one to his side.

"Come on guys, let's run for it, we might be able to make it" Said Allen as he started running towards the moving stairs, he activated his magic while running, giving him a boost of speed.

"Wha- Wait up!"

"Wait for us mate!"

They ran behind him, trying to catch up.

"We'll be late if you guys don't hurry!"

"Ho- How can you- how can you run so fast?!" William cried in between breaths.

Allen evaded students from left and right just in the nick of time, the moving stairs appeared in his vision and he speed up his pace, just as he was about to reach them, they started moving but Allen leaped from the ground towards the stairs, he hit the stone stairs with both feet as he fell down and the two boys only looked in awed after reaching the stairs.

"I've been running since I was five years old!" Allen cleaned the sweat off his face before continuing.

"Alright guys, see you on the third floor, don't be late to class!" The stairs finished moving and he continued running, leaving Armand and William behind, waiting for the stairs to go back to the same position as before.

William looked towards Armand "You think he's feeling better?"

"Hahaha, at least he's trying to not think about it, which is good" Armand just nodded.

"Alright, so now what?"

"… We wait for the stairs to come back" Armand dropped his shoulders, defeated by the situation, wondering why a school full of children had moving stairs in the first place.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When they finally reached the third floor, they saw Allen sitting down in a cross legged position reading the charms book.

"Oh, what took you so long guys? We are gonna be late now for sure" Allen gave them a grin.

"Next time will be different!" Complained William.

Armand took big breaths of air before speaking "Yes, we might be catched by Flich next time"

"Oh, the caretaker? Don't worry I didn't see him or Mrs Norris anywhere, that's why I did it"

When he finished talking, Allen's eyes shone a green light, before turning green.

Armand and William looked at Allen bewildered by his declaration, but just assumed that the caretaker and his pet weren't around when he started running.

"I think we should've gone with the rest of the first years, maybe we should do that next time" Said Armand when Allen was standing up and putting the charms book in his backpack.

Allen just looked towards the front, as if searching for something, then he nodded his head "Yeah, might be the best course of action, at least for the first couple of weeks"

"Don't worry mate! If they try to ask you something, we'll stop them!"

Allen chuckled "Thank you William, should we go?"

"Yeah, let's"

They jogged in the third floor, looking for the charms classroom until Armand found it and pointed at it.

"It's here guys"

When they looked inside the class was already in session, a small man was excitedly talking about spells, standing in a pile of books just so he could see all of the students. Before they could do anything, the man spoke. "Ah, Mr Lionheart, Mr Cooper, Mr Malfoy, so glad the three of you could join us, I was wondering if I had to fetch a search party for you, come on in."

The three boys walked inside, blushing after being called out and sat down on the front seats that were empty.

After they were seated a small cacophony of laughs could be heard from behind them. "Now now class, settle down, we will continue were we left off, now, you would all be so kind as to turn to page fifteen, we were just talking about the wand lighting charm, do any of you know the incantation for it?"

Professor Flitwick asked to the three boys in front of him.

"Lumos" Answered Armand, without missing a beat.

"Very good and how about the wand move-"

"Single Counter-Clockwise Loop" Finished Allen for Armand, making the movement with his own wand.

The professor raised an eyebrow, impressed by their knowledge, it might not be much for a seasoned wizard like himself, but every year the kids that come to Hogwarts are in a dire need of the basics. It makes sense, since it's safer for them to use their magic in a controlled environment where an adult can help them in case something goes wrong, but they take that for granted and don't even try to open their books until the teacher asks them to.

Frankly, any student that shows compromise in their studies is a good student in his book.

Professor Flitwick nodded his head, satisfied by their answer, then looked towards William "Alright Mr Cooper, now that your friends have told us the incantation and wand movement, why don't you show us a demonstration of how to do it" Asked Flitwick cheerfully, expecting his other student to show the same amount of compromise as his friends towards their studies.

"Y- Yeah! S- Sure… No problem Professor!" William answered weakly, not trusting himself to do it correctly.

The professor could see the doubt in William's face, so he decided to give him a little push "If Mr Cooper manages to do it, I'll give Slytherin twenty points for your participation"

At the sound of points, most of the Slytherins perked up their ears and looked towards William, some that were behind him encouraged him, while the Hufflepuffs whom he was taking the class stayed silent.

Seeing this, one girl with yellow robes raised her hand, waiting for the professor to take let her speak.

"Yes Ms Bailey?"

"If he can't do it, can any of us try it to get the twenty points?"

"Oh no, I'm afraid not my dear, if Mr Cooper here can't manage to do it, we'll just have to practice, but I'll give five points to Mr Lionheart and Mr Malfoy for studying their charms"

"Now, Mr Cooper just like how your friends said, 'lumos' In a single counter-clockwise loop" Showed the professor, lighting his own wand in the process.

"You can do it William, I'll guide you" Said Allen, putting his hand on top of William's shoulder.

"R- Right! Just like with the levitation charm!" William nodded, now with more confidence "Alright professor, I'm ready"

"Go ahead please" All the kids in the classroom looked towards him, the Slytherins expecting him to do it and the Hufflepuffs wishing for him to fail.

'Lumos' Exclaimed William as he moved his wand in the correct movement.

Allen activated his magic and the green light appeared on his eyes, he looked at William's magic move, first from his chest, then head and finally lower body. It moved in a current going straight to his arms, but when it was about to reach his wand, the magic dwindle. "Push through William, you need to concentrate in the mental image of the light appearing on top your wand" Allen whispered.

William nodded, pushing through the mental image, then *puff* a light was being emitted from his wand.

He looked at his wand, then to the professor and his friends "I did it professor! On my first try!"

Flitwick just laughed, enjoying how excited his student sounded "You did indeed Mr Cooper, then as promised, twenty points to Slytherin, and keep up the good work boys"

The three of them looked at each other and did a high five between them.

"Now, just as Mr Cooper demonstrated, that's the correct wand movement and incantation, I want an essay about the lighting charm of fourteen inches by the next class.

The students complained but still wrote down their homework.

"Now then, we will pair up so you can help each other with the charm, Mr Lionheart, Mr Malfoy and Mr Cooper, I want the three of you to pair up with a different student, since I know you are capable of casting the charm.

"Yes Professor" They said in unison before parting ways to another student.

"I'll pair you up so it's easier for all you"
