As soon as the early morning arrived his eyes snapped open, he jumped out of bed, made the bed as fast as possible with his powers while changing clothes and rand out of his room, closing the door behind him and locking it away using his powers.
He ran towards the supply closet where the buckets were, he wanted to practice early just in case someone saw him.
After reaching the dinning room he decided to take a peek and see what time it is, seeing how it was still dark it meant it was probably five or six in the morning.
"Five forty in the morning" He whispered "Okay, it's still early, they wake up usually at seven or eight"
In the walk towards the garden he could hear some birds singing, he always enjoyed the early mornings, it was like a late at night feeling, when everyone is asleep and no one can bother you, just better since you don't feel that sleepy.
A yawn left his mouth and he covered it with his left hand, while carrying the buckets using his right.
Such thoughts were running in his head while he was using his powers on his feet, this time, instead of boosting his speed, he tried to make his steps noiseless, so even if he ran at the top of his speed no one would wake up or ask him why he was out so early in the morning.
But then he made a U-turn, going back to the dinning room, even if he wasn't gonna use the buckets like yesterday, it was important to fill one of them with water, just in case his clothes were to get wet, he would have an excuse, but it wouldn't work if both buckets were empty.
He filled one of the buckets halfway, just to make sure it doesn't spill and went back towards the garden.
Now that a lot of kids saw him the last couple of days carrying the buckets full of water, it wouldn't arouse suspicion if they saw him doing the same thing but in the morning before breakfast.
As he carried the buckets to the garden he found the door that led to it closed, annoyed by the situation, he put both buckets on the ground and just as he did before with his door, he tried the same with this one, but instead of locking it, he tried to open it.
Allen had to concentrate for a bit since it was a different lock and an unfamiliar door to his powers, he could open and close his own door without any concentration because he was used to it in comparison to the rest of the doors in the orphanage.
He pointed his left index finger at it, then a small thread of light moved his finger to the lock on the door, a deep blue this time, he felt the light reaching the insides and in a swift motion, he moved his finger in the air, making a circle in a clockwise manner, then after reaching the middle of the imaginary circle, he moved his finger downwards, as he finished the movement, he heard a loud click and the door was unlocked.
He lifted the door a bit while opening it, trying to not make any kind of sound since the hinges on the door were fairly old. After opening the door halfway, he took the buckets out to the same corner of the garden as the day before, he went back and closed the door, and just in case a worker came in asking how he was out if the door was locked, he would simple answer that it was open, and decided to water the plants a bit early.
He sat down, cross legged and arms crossed, thinking about yesterday, he closed his eyes, thinking about the practice creating fire, then he opened his eyes and pointed his left index finger at the bucket of water, a small flame appeared on top of it, next he snapped his fingers and the ball of fire shoot towards the water, letting out smoke as it sank.
He looked at his finger recalling the sensation of using his telekinesis to grab a handful of water in a small ball, and tried to do the same, but this time using only his finger to gather a ball in similar size to the previous flame. A yellow light left his fingers, gathering a droplet of water which went back, floating on top of his finger as well, then he snapped again and the small ball shoot towards the bucket, the water stopped some of its speed and he managed to not damage anything.
He let out a sigh, relieved that this time it didn't have such a strong force.
He remembers from his previous life how water can be incredible dangerous with enough pressure, proof of that are the water jets that can cut through metal.
"Does that method even exist in this time period?" Allen asked himself "Maybe I should check it out on the… right, there's no internet, fuck"
"When does it even go online? I need to search that too…" His mind wandered, thinking about the internet and computers
"WAIT! How can I search something that doesn't exist yet?! Aaaarrghhhh" Exasperated by the situation he scratched his head using both of his hands and fell down on the ground, looking at the dark sky.
"…"
"I think I should just do my thing without thinking too much about other stuff"
He stood up and crossed his legs again.
Thinking about the use of his powers, they were similar, but completely different in regards to how it felt to do it, creating fire needed to use the light that always come out of his body in different colors, but bringing the water from the bucket it's more like if the light grabbed the water, almost as if he used his hands to grab and position it. To create water he needed the same feeling as when he created the fire, but different at the same time, otherwise he'll end up with a flame on top of his finger again.
Closing his eyes, Allen thought back on the emotions that activate his powers and after feeling the light around him, he pushed through his intention to create not fire but water, his powers answered in return. A light blue color emanated from his hand, the light traversed to the point of his index finger and it formed a small ball of blue light which after a second something akin to a snap happened and the light became water, with a tint of blue surrounding it.
He made a fist bump with his right hand, excited that he managed to do it, and thinking of what to do next with the droplet, he decided to shoot it at the water bucket, to see if it would be different using water he created to water he grabbed from the sink.
He pointed his finger at the bucket of water just a few centimeters from it, used the same celeste light from the other day so he could shoot it and saw how both of the lights were fusing just like with the fire, but this time it almost blended together.
He snapped his fingers and the droplet shot out of his fingers faster than the fire did, and faster than if he just grabbed the water as well, the speed surprised him and even made a small dent on the bucket.
"O- Okay, maybe don't shoot it again in the bucket" He thought nervously.
Allen created another droplet of water and practiced for a bit, just like with the fire, he moved it around his hand, from one finger to another as if it were alive, then an idea came to his mind.
"What if I can have more than one droplet in my fingers?" And as he was thinking that, he created another droplet on his middle finger, then his ring finger, his little finger and finally his thumb, it strained him to control so many droplets, he could feel his invisible muscle burning, just as how it burns when you do squats, it was the same feeling but all over him.
He put his fingers together, letting the droplets fuse making a small ball, which then he tried to make it bigger but couldn't go past the size of his fist, one again, exactly like with fire, and the amount of water he could grab using his telekinesis, it couldn't go past the size of his fist, otherwise it hurt him a lot.
After messing around for a bi with the water ball he got tired, he stood up, walked towards one of the bushes and pointed the ball at it, then he let go of the light that kept the form together, the water fell down and hit the ground, watering the bush.
Satisfied so far with the amount of practice so far, he picked up the water bucket and watered the rest of the bushes using both hands with his telekinesis. After gathering the last drop of water he went back inside to return the buckets and saw that some kids were waking up already.
He went towards the supply closet, returning the buckets, then he mixed with the rest of the kids who were going for breakfast.
Finishing his breakfast, he went back to the garden, and did some laps around it, the other kids looked at him with weird eyes, but he was used to it by now, whether it was because of how serious he was or because of what happened with Jimmy he couldn't tell.
"Anyways, there's no point thinking about it, when I leave, they'll never see me again" He thought, determined.
The reason as to why he was running around was to practice his physical enhancement power, checking how fast he can go before running out of breath or if it gets too difficult on his body.
After what he did in the morning, silencing his steps, he wondered if he could do other stuff, that's why he was trying the easiest thing first, something that he was somewhat used to.
He felt that his powers could enhance more than just his muscles, maybe his lungs to grab more air, but he was scared of trying that and decided to continue enhancing the exterior of his body only.
Weeks later, the routine of practicing the same things got tiresome, telekinesis, fire, water, physical enhancement, he tried to explore more into these powers, but his invisible muscle didn't burn as before, meaning that he got used to it and needed and needed a different practice method or approach if he wanted to continue getting better at it.
The routine was killing him, even if it's something as amazing as psychic powers, if a human get used to something, he starts to take it for granted.
Wanting to do something different, he stopped juggling the books in the air and jumped out of bed, he knew that not everyone can have this opportunity and he should definitely use his powers for something better, he just didn't know what yet. Thinking about what else he could do or what he could practice his mind started running at full speed thinking back on what he remembers from espers in the comics, manga, anime and series he used to watch.
And the day passed, without anything coming to his mind, after dinner, walking towards his room he thought how useful would be to have his phone back, he could look up all the things espers were able to do, or maybe stop his boredom, thinking about his phone, he remembered something he used to do daily when going to sleep.
Use the flashlight from it.
He stopped in his tracks, if he could create fire, why couldn't he create a light that doesn't burn? Excited to try it, he ran to his room at top speed, activating his powers to give him a boost.
After reaching his room, he locked it and changed his clothes as fast as possible, getting ready for bed but also for a small night practice.
With no lights around he could start the practice. He let his emotions flow and his powers activated, he was already familiar with this feeling and it was easier to do it now than ever before, he made his intention clear of wanting a light to illuminate his room. A small light was forming on top of his open hand, he knew this light was the one that uses his powers, not an actual light.
Pushing his intention towards the small ball on top of his hand, it kept growing until he could see an actual source of light that illuminated his room, it was a small white ball, fist-sized, like the fire or the water he created before.
He jumped up and down, excited to do something different, that took him a bit of a challenge.
Now he wanted to see if it would stick on the ceiling as if it were a light bulb, but after thinking for a while he decided to just go for it, transmitting his intention for the ball to 'stick' he let go of the ball from his hand, since it was connected as well with a thin strand of light, he used the same method as with the fire, converting the strand into particles that were then sucked into the ball of light. A different color of light coated the exterior of it, between green and blue.
After a minute he threw the ball towards the ceiling, he expected it to go off, but it didn't, the ball stuck there for a while.
He waited for a bit, but the ball shone with the same intensity, so he decided to use it. So he decided to read, then when he got tired of reading he practiced his telekinesis, moving his books, bookcase, even his bed until he got tired and wanted to go to sleep, but the light continued to shine.
"Please just turn off" Allen complained, and the lights went out, it surprised him, but didn't want to put too much thought to it and decided to go to sleep.
His eyelids grew heavy, a yawn escaped his mouth until he fell asleep.
