"Today is your wedding day," Granduncle Leonard said with a happy smile on his face, as he paced around Khalilah's room. "You must be very excited."
Khalilah rolled her eyes, she didn't know if he was being deliberate or if he was just being stupid, but she was deeply irritated by his attitude. "What gives you the impression that I am excited by this?" She found herself snapping at him, something that she hadn't done often, but recently she had found herself hanging by a thread and so she decided to not care anymore.
"All girls get excited on their wedding day." He chuckled. "Even the freshness of the morning is different."
"Leo?" Grandma Rosie called him warningly.
"As if I'm not terrified enough, would you be this excited if it were Lara, your granddaughter, sitting here instead of me?" She challenged, his eyes darkened at the mention of his most treasured granddaughter. "I suppose you could smile even bigger."
