Chereads / My underworld system / Chapter 3 - Lady Sophie

Chapter 3 - Lady Sophie

"Where am I?" I asked myself as I stepped out of the tent I was in.

After observing my surroundings and studying the situation, I realized that I was currently one of the injured soldiers who was supposed to be 'recovering'.

"What is it with me and wars?" I asked myself. "Or did my ancestors sign a pact of war on their generation behalf," I wondered.

First, I died in a war on earth now, the 'trial tower' put me in another war for my 'trial'. I just hope I don't end up getting transmigrated to a warzone else, I might lose my life and I don't think the Lord of the underworld is really so merciful that he'll let me transmigrate once more.

"Seems like I should have avoided 'Call of duty: Warzone' when I was still alive," I said with a wry smile.

"Brother, are you okay?" I hard a shout as a boy of about 15 or 16 years of age ran towards me before giving me a hug. "Everyone was worried, we all thought you died," he sobbed.

"But now that you are well, mother said you don't have to participate in this campaign," he said "she has already requested for an official leave for you, here's the letter," he said as he handed me the letter with a worried look in his face

Honestly, I would have loved to follow him to this place he called 'home' however, I decided not to.

First if she was truly my mother then she would know everything about me and since I was not truly her son but a transmigrated person, spotting the difference in our behavior wouldn't be too hard for her and then my secret would be exposed and since I was not planning to fail the 'trial', it was best that I remained here even if I don't want to.

"I'm sorry but, I have decided not to go home," I said " I'll be here until this campaign is over and don't worry about me, I'll be fine besides aren't you also participating in this campaign?" I asked.

Although I didn't know he was participating in the campaign as well butafter seeing the uniform he was wearing, I knew he was also participating in this campaign.

"I am but, why do you have to punish yourself because of that girl?" He asked as he tried to suppress the anger in his voice " brother, you have to forget about her. She'll never accept you into her life so why punish yourself because of her?"

"Hmm, so this whole thing is about a girl," I muttered "if this was a normal situation, I would have gotten excited however, I could not since I didn't really understand what's going on."

"Till then, I'll just focus on improving myself and getting more information about this world"

"Brother I know I can't force you to return but, do you really want to make mum sad?" He asked "just take your time to think about it and if you perhaps need anything, you can find me in the camp."

~ "Seems like you still haven't given up huh, I wonder how humiliated you need to be for you to let me be," a girl with long raven hair; blue eyes and a body with perfect proportions (not too small and not too big) snorted.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked with a poker face "get lost if you don't have anything to do or are you lost?"

"Tsk, what could I expect from a shameless moron like you," she snorted as her face contorted in anger.

Seriously, I was already getting really irritated. First, I get transmigrated to a warzone next, I found out I am injured and now some hot girl is pissing me off.

"Or is she the one my brother was talking about," I asked myself "it seems like the previous host really had a good eye for women but, from her arrogant and prideful tone I don't think they were in a relationship."

"What a waste," I sighed.

"Still pretending to not remember your shameless deeds?" she asked with her face twitching.

"Oh, I do remember you now but, I need you to leave my tent as you can see, I'm currently trying my best to recover," I replied with a tone that was clearly telling her to shoo away.

"Hmph," she snorted as she walked out of my tent.

"You just wait and watch, I'll make sure you become mine," I muttered " it's for the benefit of everyone, I must get justice."

...

[Ding]

[Host has passed the 'trial']

[Synchronizing with current realm]

[Transmigration successful]

[System undergoing update, time left: 24:00:00]

"What is going on," I mumbled as I stared at the system screen in front of me "am I not supposed to be back in the underworld if I passed the 'trial' but, why am I still here?"

"Seriously there should be a manual for this reincarnation and transmigration stuff," I grumbled.

In our briefing we had in the underworld, we were told that once we passed the 'trial' we would return to the underworld to enter a reincarnation portal however, I was still stuck here despite I passed the 'trial' and what did the system mean by transmigration was successful.

"That two hours briefing didn't explain anything at all."

Although I was confused about what was currently happening, I was not really too worried since the system had informed me that I had already passed the 'trial'.

"I shouldn't really be worried about this besides, I'm alive once more," I said with a smile before going to bed.

...

"Wake up doofus," I heard a shout.

"Who is dis- oh, it's you," I muttered as I glanced at the raven-haired girl at the entrance if my tent "did you miss me so much that you couldn't wait to see me."

"You wish," she snapped "anyway my father requested to see you, you can meet him in the tent over there," she said as she pointed to a tent not too far away.

"Did you agree to get us married?" I asked.

"One more word and I'll kill you," she yelled angrily "I've told you to stop following me around, I have no interest in you."

"Says the person who's trying to get married to me, at least I didn't tell my parents about you," I retorted.

"Just forget it, arguing with you is pointless," she replied.

~ Isn't he the boy who has been chasing Sophie around but, I heard he was reported dead.

~He is, I wonder how shameless a person can be but what do you expect from a commoner like him, people like him will always try to affiliate themselves with influential people anytime they see an opening.

~ What a shame.

This was the umpteenth time I heard this kind of conversation as I walked towards her father's tent.

"Seems like she comes from an influential family," I muttered "and how many shameless things did my former host do for him to be hated this much and now I'll have to carry the sins of another person," I sighed.

"Can I come in," as I stood outside Sophie's father's tent.

"You can come in boy," he replied in a strict tone "we have a lot to talk about."
