Chapter 1 - The beginning of a brand new

Chapter 1: A Phoenix Rises

The air was suffocating, heavy with despair. The dimly lit room in the orphanage was silent except for the faint, labored breathing of a young girl lying on a thin, ragged mattress. Her silver hair, once radiant, was now dull, and her purple eyes stared blankly at the cracked ceiling. Sophie—an orphan, a nobody—was dying.

Her stomach ached from days without food, her body weakened by years of neglect and bullying. Memories of cruel laughter and mocking voices echoed in her mind. "Quirkless freak," they had called her. Why does the world hate me so much? Sophie thought bitterly.

Her vision blurred, the edges of her reality darkening. As her body grew colder, her mind drifted. Her consciousness floated into the void, where a strange presence awaited her.

---

"Where… am I?" a masculine voice echoed in the emptiness. It belonged to a man who had lived an unremarkable life, now standing on the brink of reincarnation.

Before he could grasp his situation, a voice called out—a girl's voice, filled with anguish and desperation.

"Please… someone help me… It hurts… so much…"

Drawn to her plea, the man's soul surged toward the light. It collided with a wave of memories, emotions, and pain. When the blinding brightness subsided, he opened his eyes.

---

Sophie gasped, her chest heaving as she sat up abruptly. Her surroundings were familiar yet alien. The cracked mirror on the wall reflected her pale face and gaunt frame. She raised her trembling hands, examining them in shock.

"This… isn't my body," Sophie whispered. Her voice, now soft and feminine, startled her. Memories rushed into her mind—memories of both the girl she had become and the man she once was.

A deep sense of sorrow weighed on her chest as she pieced together Sophie's tragic life. "She… died because no one cared," she murmured, tears streaming down her face. "They tormented her until her body gave up."

As her hands touched her chest in disbelief, a surge of energy rippled through her. Her body glowed faintly, and a tingling sensation enveloped her. She gasped as her form shifted, shrinking and reshaping. In the cracked mirror, she saw the reflection of a rat staring back.

"What… is this?" Sophie whispered in shock as she reverted to her human form. A realization dawned on her: she had awakened a quirk. "Morph…" she muttered, instinctively naming the ability.

A spark of determination lit within her. "They said I was quirkless, but they were wrong. This… this is my second chance."

---

Later that evening, the door to her room creaked open, revealing Mrs. Tanaka, the head caretaker. Her gaze was sharp, calculating, but her smile was forced. "Ah, Sophie. I heard your quirk awakened," she said sweetly.

"Yes, ma'am," Sophie replied cautiously, suppressing her fear.

"What is it?"

"It's called Clone," Sophie lied. "I can create copies of myself."

Mrs. Tanaka's eyes gleamed with a strange hunger. "How… interesting," she said. "A late bloomer, but valuable nonetheless. Rest well, Sophie. We'll talk more tomorrow."

As the door closed, Sophie shivered. There was something sinister in the caretaker's tone. Her instincts screamed that she was in danger.

---

That night, Sophie morphed into a rat and crept through the dark hallways. She followed the faint sound of Mrs. Tanaka's voice, eventually reaching the office. From the shadows, Sophie listened.

"Yes, All For One," Mrs. Tanaka whispered into the phone. "Another child's quirk has awakened. It's called Clone. She'll make a fine addition to your collection."

Sophie's heart raced. All For One? The villain? She stayed hidden, her small form trembling as Mrs. Tanaka continued.

"Everything is progressing as planned," Mrs. Tanaka said. "The quirks will be ready for extraction by the end of the month. I'll send you the files tomorrow."

The caretaker opened the safe, revealing stacks of cash and folders. Sophie watched closely, memorizing the code.

When Mrs. Tanaka finally left, Sophie returned to her room. Her mind swirled with fear and anger. "She's selling us to that monster," Sophie whispered. "I have to get out of here… and I have to stop her."

---

At midnight, Sophie morphed into Mrs. Tanaka's form and approached the office. Her hands trembled as she entered the code. The safe clicked open, revealing its contents. She grabbed as much money as she could fit in her bag, along with the folders containing information about the children.

Before leaving, Sophie wrote an anonymous letter detailing Mrs. Tanaka's crimes. She left it on the doorstep of a hero agency nearby, then disappeared into the night.

---

The next morning, chaos erupted at the orphanage. Heroes stormed the building, led by Endeavor and several pro-heroes. Children were escorted to safety as Mrs. Tanaka was arrested.

"You have no proof!" Mrs. Tanaka screamed as she was dragged away. But the heroes ignored her protests, holding up the folders Sophie had stolen as evidence.

News of the raid spread quickly. "Local orphanage exposed for trafficking children's quirks," one headline read. "Pro-heroes uncover link to All For One," read another.

---

At UA High School, Principal Nezu watched the news with a furrowed brow. "This is troubling," he said.

All Might, standing beside him, clenched his fists. "Using children… it's unforgivable," he growled. "We need to do more to protect them."

Nezu nodded. "Indeed. But whoever exposed this operation deserves our thanks. Without their courage, these children would have been lost."

---

Meanwhile, Sophie sat in a train station, her heart pounding as she waited for her escape. Her bag contained enough money to start anew, and her mind buzzed with plans for a fresh start.

As she boarded the train, a nearby TV played a news broadcast. "The orphanage caretaker has been apprehended, and all the children are now safe," the anchor announced.

Sophie allowed herself a small smile. "At least they're free now," she murmured.

But she knew her journey was far from over. She needed a new identity, a new life. Using her Clone quirk, she created two figures: a tall, kind-looking man with spiky black hair and a muscular build, and a gentle woman with long black hair and a warm smile.

"Goku and Chichi," Sophie said, naming her new "parents." Her clones nodded silently, their expressions mirroring her resolve.

---

In the weeks that followed, Sophie built a life for herself. She enrolled in a school, using her parents as cover. To the world, she was just another ordinary teenager. But deep down, Sophie knew she was anything but ordinary.

She channeled her creativity into drawing manga, creating stories inspired by her favorite memories from her past life. Her work gained popularity, earning her a modest income and a sense of purpose.

But Sophie never forgot the darkness she had escaped. She trained her quirks in secret, mastering Morph and Clone through relentless practice. Her determination burned brighter than ever.

"This world tried to break me," Sophie said one evening as she stared at her reflection. "But I'll show them… I'll rise above it all."

---

Across Japan, the news of the orphanage raid sparked widespread outrage. Citizens demanded stricter regulations to protect children, and pro-heroes intensified their efforts to dismantle villain networks.

All Might stood before a crowd, his voice firm and resolute. "We will not allow evil to prey on the innocent. Together, we will create a brighter future for all."

Unbeknownst to him, the catalyst for this change was a young girl quietly rebuilding her life—a girl who had found her strength in the face of despair.

Sophie's journey had only just begun, but she was determined to forge her own path in a world that had once abandoned her.
