Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Death

"He was alive at the end of the war but I wanted him dead so I sent in a little assassin friend. I just wanted Hannah and it wasn't possible as long as he was alive".

"Leonardo and Hannah don't know this, Leonardo was easy to convince because he hated you but Hannah was hard so I had to work harder and came up with this grand plot which worked".

He sounded excited, "Now she hates you and I can kill you but you know what the funny thing is? It was Troy who ordered the assassin because he loved her too but now despises her because of you", he spat.

"Don't worry about Hannah, I'll take good care of her… better than her mate and you", his eyes only showed evil intentions as he stood up. He'd gone crazy.

"Begin", everyone started throwing stones at me as if on cue, some came over to beat me, ripping my dress in the process. Dodging was of no use as stones landed on my head wherever I turned making me dizzy.

I was screaming at them to stop but they ignored my cries and threw even bigger stones, tears and blood flowed down my face freely.

"Please… somebody… believe me. Hannah… Drew… I didn't reject him", I screamed in between hits trying to breathe properly but as usual I was ignored.

Beta Leonardo came up to me, everyone stopped and watched silently. He stood before me before punching me hard on my face, breaking my jaw and I fell lifeless to the ground.

I lay in a pool of my own blood with no energy to fight back.

"Take that", Drew said kicking me on my chest making me spit blood.

"Drown her", he commanded. Two guys came over and dragged me with my legs into the water. When the were satisfied with the water level, they threw me in.

I tried to come up, my whole body was burning due to the salt water. I searched around with my hands and found a wooden plank.

"Please Hannah, believe me… one day you… you'll regret not… listening to me… the whole pack will… once they come to know… the truth about… your mate and…"

I kept trying to speak but the sea waves were making it difficult for me. Hannah looked at me and her eyes softened, I thought she finally realized her mistake. She slowly started to swim towards me.

She's going to help me, my thoughts were interrupted when she spoke with venom dripping from her voice and eyes.

"Don't you dare speak about my mate with your dirty tongue and foul mouth. The only thing I regret is befriending you, I curse the day I met you… helped you".

After saying this, she stabbed me underneath the water and my breathing became difficult as my heart beat slowed with every passing second. She snatched the wooden plank from me and pushed me back into the water, making me drown.

'What have you done Hannah? I'm sorry Noella, that you had to suffer with me because of my pathetic self. Mom, Dad… if you can hear me, you were wrong about my mate'. I thought as my lungs filled with water.

I once again had the privilege of meeting my old friend darkness, I just wish that he would fulfill my wish of not waking up this time as I invited him with open arms.

Or this time… death.

*. *. *. *. *. *.

When I opened my eyes, I saw only darkness so thick that it made my eyes burn and gave me a headache as I tried so hard to see where I was. And… What is this place?

I tried to call out for someone but nothing came out. I frowned and moved my hands to search for anything that would help me find out where I am. But thanks to my bad luck, I found nothing.

I moved my legs too but it was like I was in some dark void so there was no sound too. Stopping abruptly when I remembered what happened before I slipped into darkness.

Wait? Did darkness finally grant my wish? Am I dead? And if I am, where did I end up? Shit! Am I in hell?

Wait I never wished for hell… what the hell?!

A masculine but sweet chuckle filled my ears. I could listen to that voice forever, if his laugh was this nice then what about when he speaks? I was so deep in my thoughts that I didn't realize he had stopped laughing.

Did I do something wrong?

"No, it's just that no one has ever complimented me before", I imagined his cheeks a lovely shade of pink due to blushing.

At that thought, he cleared his throat and said in a strong voice, "No, I'm not, Men don't blush".

I roll my eyes in amusement, of course men blush.

"No, I'm a warrior, we don't blush", his voice had tinge of a childish complaint. Wait, I haven't been speaking so he can …"

"Yes we can read minds and as for your earlier doubts, you are between life and death but no… you're not in hell", I heard him trying to hold back a laugh and blushed in embarrassment.

"Alright back to business, you are on a sacred where no one goes back from".

If this is meant to scare me then he's doing a good job.

"No I'm not, you didn't even let me finish", he threw up his hands in exasperation. I'm guessing he's tired of me.

"Yes, yes I am, now where was I? Ah yes, I was saying no one goes back because one end leads to life and the other end to death. Whoever is dead only crosses from life to death. Those whom Her Highness want to send back are not allowed to see so generally we take everyone's sight and voice".

He paused to probably give me time to digest the information and continued, "We want to prevent screaming in this peaceful place when they find out they're dead".

I froze as I realized something, "Wait, you said people that can speak go back right?"

"Yes?"

"So that means I'm going back?"

I listened as he took a deep calming breath, "How did you not realize that earlier?"

"But I don't want to go back there!"

"Well tell that to her when you see her, I'm just here to escort you which isn't common".

Suddenly we stopped and he spoke, "She's here, your Highness", then he left with his heels clicking on the floor… if there is a floor.

I turned my attention back to Her Highness hoping to see something. A gust of wind hit me square on my face, startling me and I could feel my eyes again so I tried to open them.

It was blurry at first but then cleared up, I looked around to find myself near a fountain. The view was breathtaking and I saw a lady standing opposite, staring at me. A beautiful white dress was draped over her, hair white, long and shimmering… she was perfect.

Then I realized my mouth was hanging open and I was ogling her, I closed my mouth and bowed, "Your Highness—".

I was interrupted by her voice as it caressed me, "No, that is for other people but for you my special child…

Call me Moon Goddess".
