"I am going to train you".
That simple sentence out of her mouth was enough to make me choke on my own spit.
"What?", i asked coughing.
"This is not going to be easy", she said under her breath but I heard it.
"I. Am. Going. To. Train. You", she said every single word with pause to make me understand.
"Why?", I asked confused, why is she going to train me instead of reporting this to the alpha.
She sighed.
"You know, I think you should know some of the defense tricks and some other moves to protect yourself when help isn't available"
She looked at me for a second before continuing.
"I realized this just when June was talking about how every wolf needs to know what their surrounding consists of. I think you should know how to defend yourself".
"Ohh", was the only word of my mouth after her long speech.
"And", she hesitated and looked at me as if asking for my permission. Which I don't know what for. When she saw my confused face, she sighed again irritated.
"And… I know about your mate, I…", I stopped her before she could finish that sentence.
"No Mariya, please don't talk about him. I don't want to discuss anything about him please, I just want to forget about him", I whispered and hugged myself.
I hate myself for being weak but I have to make sure that no one sees this.
"That's a good thing, you shouldn't let your past ruin your future. You also shouldn't think not just talk about him", she growled 'him'.
Some part in me twitched at her behavior towards my mate but I suppressed it. I don't want to or ever want to defend or protect him.
"I just wanted to say that whatever happened between him and you on that night wouldn't have happened if you knew how to protect yourself. He wouldn't have been able to drown you".
I don't know why but my heart started aching at the sudden memory of that night, those memories which I want to erase from my soul but can't.
The half-fake, half-true story which I told them was not even close to what I really felt. In my story, only my mate did this to me but it was the whole pack throwing stones at me.
In my story, my mate drowned me but in real life, the real pain I felt was betrayal. It was nothing compared to the pain which I felt of that silver knife which she used to stab me.
I was more heartbroken at the fact that best friend stabbed me, the only one who believed me, who was always there to help me and protect me… stabbed me for my mate.
"Yoo-hoo Adira, are you even listening to what I'm saying", I looked at trying to recollect what she said. She noticed this and sighed placed over hip.
"Yeah, yeah but what about Alpha Carl? He clearly ordered that I can't train until my loyalty test is over and the pack, if they see me training and that you're training me then we will be in big trouble".
"Ohh don't worry about them, they won't know anything, I'll train you near your house or the lake I suppose", she said tapping her chin contemplating the idea and later added, "And if anyone would even come then we have senses, we will know and stop".
"Ok", I relaxed at her idea but suddenly my eyes widened when I abruptly remembered the people we were forgetting in this whole plan.
"No, no, it's not okay", I said with urgency in my tone.
"What? Why?", Mariya said with a frown and I know she has already started thinking of the various possibilities.
"Because we forgot about the guards", I whispered fearing that someone might hear us, but it looks like she didn't understand what I meant because she looks confused.
"The guards Alpha Carl assigned to me, they'll tell him I'm secretly training", my face looked like I had seen a ghost.
"You don't have to worry about anything, nothing will happen to me. Remember I have a position here, I'm sure they'll listen to what I have to say in my defense".
But I was still afraid for myself, she would be saved as the Beta female but what about me?
As if reading my thought Mariya said, "They will believe me when I give them a perfect reason why I'm training you. As for the guards, don't worry… I should have told you this earlier", she whispered the last part but I heard it.
I frowned, confused at what she's talking about but she looked annoyed somewhat. It shouldn't be that bad.
"The guards will not be around you when me, Franco, June or Carl are with you", she said giving me a big, white pearly smile and I gasped.
"Why didn't I know of this earlier", i whisper yelled.
"Sheesh, it's supposed to be a secret" she said putting her perfect slim index finger on her lips.
"Okay", I copied her tone which earned me a playful glare as she flipped her hair from her shoulders.
"Oh come on, don't look at me like that", she looks cute with the mock glare.
A peaceful silence followed after that in which I was just thinking that Mariya was now a friend. My thoughts was cut short as I heard throat clearing.
"So what do you say about the training, are you in?", I glanced up to see her seriously look at me for a positive answer.
I bit my lip, what should I say? Whatever it is, I'll end up being in trouble. I'm walking on thin ice and it can break any minute. If I say yes then I'll get punished if they find out but if I say no the it'll be my loss as I would be helpless in any danger.
But rather being a vulnerable pathetic omega, I think it's worth more giving the 'yes' a shot.
"Yes", only time will tell what would be the result of this risky decision.
