Stepping into a fancy and spacious office-like room with a sofa, some bookshelves, some expensive looking chairs, a fireplace and a beautiful desk which the Kaiser sat behind of as he happily called out to Lili.
"Your holiness, welcome to my office, please come inside. Heinrich and I have been waiting for you."
After saying this the Kaiser hurriedly guided Lili to sit in the fanciest of chairs behind the big fancy desk. Sitting there Lili felt like a little Queen overlooking her small council of nobles.
To add to this Willy, Heinrich and even the Kaiser were politely bowing to her before she out of instinct ordered them to sit. Truly sitting there was like she was back within her old throne room commanding her little dark minions, but alas it was not the same. For when the three sat down she could hardly anymore see them from behind the desk where she sat.
Realising this the feeling of greatness quickly vanished from her and she was reminded of the fact that she was but a little girl now and not a tall demon lord. Now she just felt out of place and ashamed of herself, she must have looked quite ridiculous. Even the chair was way too large for her, oh how she wanted to find a better chair.
But as if her appearance was not ridiculous in the least, Heinrich suddenly started explaining the results of their sales of the lottery tickets to her.
"Your holiness, we have managed to sell over 12 million lottery tickets. It seems the slogans and the story you told the reporter was quite persuasive. Never have I seen such a positive reaction to a simple Lottery before, truly you are a genius your holiness."
Then the Kaiser excitedly joined in by saying.
"Yes, and not only that, but most tickets sold were ones with bonus blue balls making them worth two marks. So even if someone ends up winning the entire five million grand price then our profits will still be massive. Minus the expenses and the grand price we will be looking at an easy fourteen million Marks in profits."
To this Heinrich quickly added by saying.
"Well it's more like 12 million Marks I would say, there are lesser prices after all and buying paper for the lottery tickets in such a short amount of time wasn't easy. So we had to go with a more expensive option this time bringing down our profits, plus with all the money invested in this we will need a few more rounds like this to break even. But overall it is an absolute great success."
Hearing the men's words Lili felt like she should be amazed, but she wasn't. She merely showed a light smile and lightly clapped her hands as she congratulated the men on their hard work. After all she had expected a bit more in ways of profits, but then again there were no computers within this world and so most things needed to be done by hand, and so everything was more expensive.
Also being a person who had witnessed the 21st century where there were billionaires and trillions of dollars of debt, this small number of millions just didn't sound that great. She wanted to have her ideas make more, a lot more.
Then Willy laid back on the sofa and proudly said.
"Oh father amazing as these results might seem like now, let me tell you, you haven't seen anything yet. Back in Plön Lili has already been working on new projects and they will not only change our nation for the better, but they will also make us so much more than just this meager sum of money."
Immediately all eyes turned to Lili with anticipation. Seeing this Lili felt a bit betrayed, the boy had clearly been going through her room's drawers. Those drawings there were still only concepts of hers and not ready yet, but now it seemed she had no choice but to tell of them to these men.
Having lived within this world for quite a while now Lili had after all seen quite a few things that she could improve. Everything from baby things, bicycles, land vehicles which she didn't know much about except how to draw them, planes, boats and simple things like cat litter, toothbrushes, tractors and things like that.
Sighing heavily Lili then began to explain her future plans for grocery stores and supermarkets to them all, along with establishing other companies as well. So the day quickly flew by in the Imperial Palace of Berlin.
On the next day in the large coal mine of Zollverein in West Germany large groups of men were pouring out of the factory gates after another hard day of work. Having worked a twelve hour shift the men smelled absolutely horrible and were covered in black soot.
The men seemed exhausted, but many were nonetheless in high spirits for that day none had been injured or killed within the mine. Germany might have been a developed nation for the time period, but workers still lacked basic safety gear like helmets for instance, so accidents were a common place within the mines.
Now standing at the factory gates a young man named Wolfgang looked at the four marks in his hand with a smile. It seemed his hard work today had paid off.
With these four marks he could somewhat make up for having spent four marks on two lottery tickets the other day. His wife had really not liked that, but as a man he felt that he had to do it for his little ones.
He, Wolfgang Mozart after all was a dreamer. His life was not meant to be spent here in the gutter forever. Like his great-grandfather before him, he too was going to make something great out of himself one day, or at least he hoped that his children would do something great. He sadly had already problems with his lungs and feared that death was but ten or so more years away. Living under ground mining coal was definitely not good for ones health, this he could personally attest to.
Then as he was lost within his thoughts his mining buddies suddenly called out to him.
"Hey Wolfgang stop daydreaming and come on! Me and the boys are thirsty let's go drink, it'll do good for your throat I'm sure, always does wonders for me at least, hahaha!"
Reaching into his pocket Wolfgang pulled out two crumbled up lottery tickets and showed a smile, as he then proclaimed to all hundred or so miners in hearing distance saying.
"No, I Wolfgang will not be going for a single drink today. No, instead we all will be going for many drinks today at my expense. For within my hands is the one and only winning ticket for Germany's Little Lili's Welfare Lottery. Or well I haven't checked it yet, but if it is then drinks are on me Wolfgang! Now who wants to come support me as I go find out this mystery!"
Hearing this the miners broke into three loud cheers and called out Wolfgang's name. Though this immediately alarmed the informant of the mine making him think that a riot had broken out. Running to the gate the man quickly closed them and angrily yelled to the miners while shaking his delicate fist.
"Damn you rebels! How dare you cause a fuss before this prestigious mine! Now scram or else, or else, or else, well well, you know how it is! Get away!"
The informant was a small man with a large nose that's little raging appearance made the miners laugh, as they calmly walked away with Wolfgang at the lead of them.
With the large group of men behind him now Wolfgang hesitated. Oh God please let this be it, please have mercy on my poor soul and my little family, he thought as he walked along towards the betting station.
Then he saw it in the distance with large crowds around it. The people were densely packed having filled up both sides of the streets. Some cheered and patted a man on his shoulders as he ran out of the crowd yelling.
"Yes, I won 5 marks! Oh yes thank you God for making my two mark investment worth it all!"
Others seemed a bit disappointed as they commented.
"Damn lucky man, maybe I should buy two tickets next time for better odds, hmm."
Uncaring of this Wolfgang slowly approached the crowd. Seeing his approach the crowd quickly made way especially as they saw the huge group of smelly miners behind him. People covered their noses and commented.
"Damn coal miners, they could have at least had the decency to have changed their clothes before coming here."
"Oh god, they smell. I think I'm going to puke."
Then as the crowd made way Wolfgang was met with the sight of the betting booth being surrounded by well armed and armoured royal guards. Some stood on foot as others rode on horse back as one horse rider then looked to him and said.
"You there!"
Hearing this Wolfgang immediately stopped in fear as did his followers. Then the rider spoke in a serious tone of voice as he said.
"Show me those tickets of yours. They are real are they not?"
Nodding his head Wolfgang hesitantly handed his tickets to the man. He couldn't believe it, what were the royal guards doing all the way out here. Wasn't the Lottery privately owned, or was it perhaps already suspected of fraud or something?
With concern he then watched the cavalry man look the crumbled up tickets a few times over as he then showed a smile and said.
"Well seems your in luck my man."
Handing the tickets back to Wolfgang he then said.
"Take them and congratulations in advance your one lucky man Wolfgang. Now go get your price."
Feeling confused and unsure, Wolfgang hastily thanked the cavalry man and made his way to the small betting booth.
There to his surprise was the young woman who had sold him the tickets and a cute little girl standing on the counter of the betting booth. The girl wore but a simple white dress and had her hair tied into twintails and yet she looked like the cutest little thing that he had ever before seen.
She was nothing like his own poor little girls and as he looked upon her he quickly realised who she was. It was Lili from the newspapers, that brilliant little girl and he knew not why but before her he felt so inferior.
Wolfgang felt as if he didn't deserve to look upon such a being. He wasn't sure why this was, but once he took a glance into those magical deep blue eyes of hers his legs shook, his knees quickly buckled and as of it were the most natural thing he bowed before the little girl and fell to his knees.
He wanted to say something, but hesitated. How was he to greet such a pure being? Then before he could come up with a response she spoke to him in a sweet voice that sounded so angelic as she then said.
"Ooh come now, I appreciate your dramatic acknowledgement of me, but there's no need for that. As Wolfgang Mozart a descendant of that one and great Mozart of old you should not be so humble. Be proud for within you is great potential, by the grace of God he has chosen you and I can personally attest it to be like so. And I even have come here personally to see it become a possibility, that is if your willing to see it become so?"
Hearing this Wolfgang was astonished. How did this girl know his family name? He was sure he had only written his first name upon that lottery ticket and yet she knew it somehow?
In awe Wolfgang then looked up to the girl who now sat on the counter looking down upon him, as he then humbly asked.
"Ho, ho, how? How will my potential be unlocked, your, your?"
Laughing lightly at Wolfgang's hesitating words Lili cheerfully then said.
"Hihihi, just call me Lili, that is fine. And as for your potential, well firstly you could give me those tickets of yours so that I can give you your price. I might be young, but I do hear that with money many possibilities are usually opened like so, you silly man, hihihi."
Realising his own foolishness Wolfgang felt ashamed and didn't dare to look upon the girls inspecting eyes as he humbly handed her his tickets. And as he did the girls dainty little hands brushed against his rough ones for but a moment, but within that moment he felt something strange.
Then as the girl handed off the tickets to the young woman behind her for further checking she spoke again saying.
"Hmm, your lungs are filled with dark dust and are in danger of infection. Your spine has damage as well, there is a nasty scar in the middle of your head hidden under your hair, your muscles are sore, eyes weak and overall your body seems to be breaking down. Continue like this and soon you will catch a nasty fever and death will not be far behind then."
Wolfgang couldn't believe it, how did she know this? He hadn't even spoken of his many pains and problems to his wife and yet this girl knew.
With wide eyes he looked up to the girl who then had the young woman whisper something into her ear. After that Lili stood up and happily proclaimed with an amazingly loud of a voice to all that he Wolfgang was the first grand price winner of the Welfare Lottery.
Offering Wolfgang her dainty little hand he then grabbed it and stood up, but as he did a feeling of calming warmth came upon him. Suddenly the pain within his body began to subside and he felt so calm just then. Without much thought he showed a smile and cheered with the little girl as he was handed the large check with a total of five million Marks written there as his price.
He knew he should have been overjoyed just then about the price, but more than anything he felt awed at the little girl there beside him.
Then the girl began to lead him to a carriage as they then rode off towards the bank together to claim the price. But all the while he just couldn't help, but feel that there was something really special about this girl.
He knew he shouldn't be so close to her. The cavalry riding besides the carriage were giving him suspicious looks, but more than anything he felt so small in this girls presence and that somehow the real price here wasn't the money, but for him to be within her presence.
For him to be here was such a honour and he couldn't explain it, but somehow the longer he sat there next to her holding the girls little hand the better he felt. Not only was his mood better, but his exhaustion was now almost completely gone as was all the pain within his body.
Breathing felt so easy now, the world seemed so clear and his body felt so light. Something was happening to him, something fantastical and he couldn't help but feel that it was all thanks to her.
Although as they came close to the bank he began to notice sweat forming on the girls forehead. She seemed a bit exhausted for some reason and out of instinct he let go of her dainty little hand and asked.
"Lili are you ok? You seem exhausted, are you alright?"
Taking out a white handkerchief from a hidden dress pocket Lili wiped her head and commented.
"Oh, I guess I overdid it a little. You know your body was in a really bad state, just how do you do it? Don't you have any safety equipment down there in the mines, like helmets, glasses to protect your eyes, masks, you know things like that?"
Shaking his head Wolfgang then honestly began to tell Lili about his life in the underground and its many dangers. As much as the girl might have known she obviously had never been within a mine. Although she did speak of some strange things and mining equipment that he had never heard of, but clear in person knowledge of the mines she did lack.
So while going to collect the money he was sure to tell the curious little girl as much as he knew of a normal miners life within the mine. And strangely as they talked he found himself little by little feeling a bit more at ease around the little girl.
He could immediately see that this girl was kind and truly cared for the normal people of Germany and their wellbeing. Seeing this Wolfgang could only hope that the German Royal family who took this little angel in were as kind as she was.
Maybe soon some real changes could be made within Germany that would see life really begin to improve for the better for all. But sadly their time together quickly came to an end after he received the money.
It seemed the girl had somewhere important to go, which was fine as he had a promise to keep with the other miners who followed him. And so they bid eachother farewell when Lili suddenly yelled out a invitation for him to come visit her sometime in Plön if he wanted to.
"Please come to Plön some time. I'd love to hear you play Mozart."
Did she mean that she wanted to hear him play Mozart or just play something? This he didn't know, but to see the girl waving goodbye to him did make him feel at a loss.
And so just then and there he decided that one day hopefully soon he would play something truly great for her. Yes that's what he was going to do and in doing so he was going to restore the legendary Mozart name back to glory again. Soon all would know not only of his grandfather, but they would know of him the great Wolfgang Mozart of the modern times.
