Hedwig, Karoline and the other peasants now stood in a deathly silent village filled with the horrible stench of death. All around them lay beastmen corpses. Men, women or children it didn't matter now they were all slaughtered by their hands. They weren't able to really say which was which as they all looked too similar and hideous to their eyes to tell the difference and they didn't really care.
As some tended to the wounded and others comforted the defiled women, others looked to their savior in awe.
Ther at the center of camp, where the majority of the beastmen bodies lay stood one man, the golden warrior. Eyes watched him in curiosity as he removed his helmet, revealing a sweaty handsome face, with long brown hair and a short beard underneath.
Frowning the warrior tossed the helmet away into the darkness of night commenting. " So uncomfortable. "
Hesitatingly walking In front of the golden warrior Hedwig kneeled. Seeing this all the other peasants kneeled also as Hedwig spoke carefully and said. " I thank the brave warrior of light for saving us from those vile beastmen. If it wasn't for you I'm sure we all would have been dead, come morning. I apologize as I do not have any gifts to give for your heroic deed. But I swear that In your honor I will spread word of what great deeds you did hear this night far and wide. "
Hearing this the golden warrior laughed and said cheerfully. " No need, no need for I just follow god's teachings as they are told. In the holy book, god Sighard teaches us that, do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God will be pleased. "
Hearing this the peasants started to whisper amongst themselves in admiration and wonder. Speechless, Hedwig remained silent as Karoline walked forth and spoke. " Well at least tell us your name, oh brave warrior. "
Smiling at her the warrior then spoke. " It's Jesus. Just call me Jesus as it is my one and only God-given name. "
Confused Karoline asked. " God-given name? What do you mean sir? "
With a serious expression, Jesus spoke once more. " It's as I say it is. Now on to other matters. Are you ready to leave? We should not stay here for much longer or more of them might come. "
As Hedwig got up ready to reply to Jesus, Karoline started muttering to herself quietly enough for no other soul to hear. " Jesus the true sun of God has come to save us. God is truly with us. "
Standing up Hedwig spoke to Jesus and said. " I think we all can walk. But Jesus what of the other prisoners? There are only twenty or so of us here. When we were captured they separated us and most likely dragged the others into villages much like this. If we don't act soon I fear it will be too late for the others. "
Hearing this Jesus frowned as he started to think. He specifically had left the army in order to go and protect his family from potential danger and to confront his son for his actions. But now It seemed that other matters needed his attention. Being the righteous man he was he couldn't turn a blind eye to this matter. He would just have to hope that his family was not in any immediate danger.
Clenching his hammer tight Jesus begrudgingly accepted his faith and spoke. " Everyone grab whatever supplies and weapons you can. When you are ready follow me. Let's go free the others and please do not do anything stupid. I will be the one to take the beastmen head-on, no one else needs to put their selves in harms way. "
In response, Hedwig straightened his back and spoke. " Don't worry Jesus my father taught me and my sister how to fight. We may not look it, but we can hold our own. "
In response, some men and women eagerly raised their weapons and cheered saying. " Yeah, let's show those bastard's what we Iberians can do. "
Sighing at this Jesus spoke to the peasants. " Hear me sons and daughters of Iberia! When we go into battle do not do anything foolish! Don't through your life away needlessly! And most importantly do not hesitate or be afraid, for I am with you! In the name of god, I swear to you that I will keep you safe and bear the heaviest of burdens in the fights to come! And we will have victory, this I swear to you, brothers and sisters! "
Then as the people loudly cheered, Jesus turned and headed into the dark forest hammer in hand as the peasants then followed.
Running to his side Hedwig asked. " So where exactly are we going? "
Then came a smack to his head as Karoline slapped his brother and angryly said. " Shut up, you shouldn't question him. I mean isn't it obvious that he knows what he is doing? "
Scratching the back of his head Hedwig spoke a little annoyed. " But I didn't. "
Laughing slightly Jesus said. " Oh come now you two. It's fine to ask me such questions, for the answer is quite simple. All we need to do is go back to the road where you separated from the others and then follow their trail to wherever they might be. "
As if the light of understanding had just been lit in his head. Hedwig's eyes widened and he spoke admiringly. " Oh I see, That's a great idea, sir Jesus. "
Scratching his head Hedwig muttered to himself. " Why didn't I think of that? "
Smack! Came another hit to his head as Karoline said. " See, what did I tell you? Just put your thrust into Jesus, he clearly knows what to do. "
As they walked through the woods guided by only a few torch lights and Jesus who didn't seem to need any light as he walked confidently forward. It was as if he knew exactly where each rock and branch was located on the ground as he walked through the darkness.
Looking at this scene in wonder. Hedwig stumbled on roots and rocks as he followed Jesus trying to imitate his movements. That's when he remembered the floating weapons that freed them and he asked. " So sir Jesus, back there you said that you freed us from our bonds. So does that mean that you were the one who controlled those blades? If so, then how is it possible? How can a man do such a thing? Are you a wizard by any chance? Although I have never heard of any wizard doing what you did. "
Answering Hedwig, Jesus said calmly. " Well yes to your first question. I did use those blades to cut you loose. And secondly, I do not know what it is called. But I can say that it is a force that resides in all things around us. But most humans lack the ability to feel and control it. That is most likely why you and many others do not know of it. So no, I am not a wizard. I was just born this way and a precious someone helped me unlock my potential. "
Curious, Hedwig continued his questioning as he asked. " Wait wait wait, you say that you were born with this ability but only recently unlocked it's full potential? What do you mean? "
Then Jesus said. " Well think of it like this. Basically, I was an eagle amidst a flock of chickens. While the eagle has always been able to fly. Growing up amongst chickens who aren't able to fly, the eagle simply had never even tried or considered it, as it was not something that he had ever thought about before. "
Nodding his head in understanding Hedwig asked. " But how is it that you know that you have always had such abilities? Is there some sort of a physical mark that your power holds or what? "
Shaking his head Jesus said while walking down the hill. " No, there is nothing physical. Instead, I know it because, like the eagle I have always known deep down inside that there was something different about us. In battle, I have always been able to anticipate my opponents moves and react faster to situations than others have. "
Nodding Hedwig was about to speak when Jesus suddenly raised his hand and said, while jumping over a ditch. " We are here. "
