I dressed myself the fastest possible. Leon told me to dress up and I understood what that meant.
I chose a red dress, bright scarlet red, it was a deep v top, strapless and covered with rubies and diamonds in floral shapes. The bottom was a tight mermaid design and for shoes I chose gold stilleto heels adorned with beautiful glitter. I wore black leather gloves that went to my wrists and an artic fox fur shall over my left shoulder. My neck was adorned with my custom LeVian jewels, a gold chain with a teardrop pendant. The primary jewel was a sapphire, surrounded by small diamonds and then surrounded by small pieces of jade. Moving higher up my body I kept my hair done in a high bun, I did my best to stop my curls from playing peekaboo but I couldn't get them all. And for my ears I matched my earrings with my necklace.
The drive to the venue was about forty five minutes, from the forested country of my home through to the suburbs then down to the waterfront and by then the sun had about four more hours to set. As usual I could see Leon waiting outside dressed in a bright neon pink tuxedo with his hair gelled back. His black eyeliner in a siren style made his face look slick and elegant. He wore those usual black dress shoes and his favourite orange tie against a white dress shirt. And a complimentary brown and black gradient lip with a cover of clear gloss.
He waved my driver over to a VIP parking spot and took me out of the car.
"Lil, I'm glad you could make it. You look awesome! And your dress...." he hummed in thought and curiousity as he analyzed it.
"Who's it by?" he asked as he looked at the intricate jewels and touched the fabric, looking carefully at the seams and folds of the dress.
"My personal designer. She's amazing isn't she? Charges me a good rate for customer loyalty, she does amazing designs and I go to her for alot of my dresses." I said excitedly as I was happy to recieve such interest on it.
"Well damn~ this is some top tier work. It really suits you though especially the jewels, they're gonna look amazing under the lights."he said offering me his arm which I took as I headed inside with him.
He was right though, the lights shined in whites and blues in a controlled light setting down the middle of the open room. While the buildings original lighting was off to provide a mood setting.
"So the bottom floor is a fashion show right?" I asked as I took notice of a stage that had been setup on the ground floor. Swarms of well dressed people surrounded both sides of it as the room was full of laughter and whispers.
"Yeah. Hoping to see some bizarre stuff today. This designer makes some crazy interesting pieces." he said as he released my arm and waved down a person in the distance on the stage. He pointed to one of the lights that were out on the stage and the man nodded before rushing beyond the stage curtains where the control panels for them were likely kept.
I couldn't help but smile at him.
"So I'll take it you've held shows for this designer before?"
"Yeah this is the third time actually, just never here in this particular venue."he said as he let out a sigh.
" It looks really good though. You definitely know how to set the stage." I laughed a bit as I noticed all the intricate perfections of ribbons dangling from the stage with perfect sinches between each one. And white flowers hanging above the stage that allowed to room to carry a fresh floral smell.
" What are those flowers?" I asked as I looked at them in awe as they hung together in a great cluster.
"Ah yes, Clematis Pistachios and Babies Breath. I originally thought about doing Roses and Trillums however after talking with the designer we discovered that brighter and sweeter flowers will allow the pieces to really pop off." he said proudly as he admired and took in the beauty of his work.
Working as a Denier, Leon's job in particular was to set up and design the venues owned by his family, when people bought them out for events. He would be responsible to help out with staging crews, lighting, ornaments, or anything else needed to set the area up for whatever it was needed for. In his family everyone played a proper part. His father was the one who would make the purchases for big properties and build, renovate, or demolish them into the ideal building. His mother managed all the family finances including controlling and watching all the income and deposits of the money and overall keeping track of all transactions and finances, and his younger sister who I didn't much care for was responsible for advertising and because she was a party addict and gossip girl it wasn't hard.
I nodded in agreement and looked around the room at the various faces, there were a few faces I knew and many more that I did not recognize at all.
"I thought you said this was a fashion show and yet I'm seeing alot of unknown faces. Alot more of the lesser class compared to us." I said.
"Now, now." said Leon through a sigh.
"There is no lesser class here. We're are all human. Even if some of us can afford to toss millions into a black hole and be fine. We're all hard working money makers." he said as he nudged into me with his arm.
"My, My. Don't you sound mighty noble all of a sudden."
"Its the truth. People may act higher and as though they are godly however we're all the same in the end. Everyone no matter which walk of life you're in, or how much money you have. We all admire and fear someone who is more than we are. And all look down and pity someone who may be lesser. But we have to keep in mind that people who are lesser to us are more to others. And people who are more than us are lesser to many." he said quietly as we both stood side by side looking through the crowd.
I did nothing but nod. There was a deep felt truth to the words he spoke to me. Even though I carried myself with much pride and admittedly flaunted my unending fortune, I couldn't deny any of his words. Maybe it's because I truly understood what he meant.
It was a perspective that I was farmiliar with. My mother I always admired but my mother is much less than my father, just as I pity my brother who in many ways is better than I am.
"In any case let's grab a drink quickly before the show starts I already have our seats picked for us."he said as he began to walk away through the crowd. I nodded and followed beside him. This was an environment I knew well, it was in no way uncomfortable or unwelcoming for me, especially not with Leon here. Although despite my greater sense of peace, I had an odd feeling. I suppose it was nothing though, just remnants from yesterday.
