I was feeling dizzy, my hands felt like they were tied tightly, my body seems to be unmovable. I tried to open my eyes, yet couldn't see anything due to a blindfold. It completely felt like I got kidnapped or something. The last thing I remembered was being called a faker and getting captured by that girl. Who was she and what's really her deal, I had to know that.
As I was struggling to move, I heard the sound of opening a door and footsteps coming towards me. Suddenly a voice rang in my ears.
"Oh, you are finally awake. It seems like you are nothing special, just a faker of a magus."
It was the same voice from before. This was the same girl I encountered before getting kidnapped.
" Who are you and what do you want?" I screamed at her as my mouth wasn't covered.
I was really angry and frustrated that I was kidnapped. Though I would like to learn about her as she was the first magus to catch me like this.
She began to laugh as she heard my yelling and started to approach me.
" My identity doesn't matter to you, though the thing I want may matter to you." She spoke as she unfolded the blindfold from my eyes. Finally I was able to look at my surroundings.
That was the time when I noticed her bright red eyes. They were glowing red more and more as I looked at them. Damn it, it might be some kind of magic of her. But, at least I am free from that blindfold.
" Why would that matters to me?" I asked her quite aggressively, but for some reason, I couldn't express my anger in my voice. As if my mind was being forcefully tamed by her. Damn those glowing eyes, she really tried to tame my mind. That's when she begun gave a smirky smile.
" The reason you were captured because it's part of your punishment."
Punishment... What is she talking about. What did I do to her that she would punish me, I wonder. Though, my body and mind couldn't express these.
" Do you know what is the most important thing for mage? it's about keep the magus hidden. Staying hidden in the shadow is the survival point for a magus."
Her voice was completely turned serious and her smile was gone.
" Do you now realize what's your fault? "
I begun to think harder to understand my mistake. Wait, if a mage had to avoid getting attention, did it mean my action of the morning was troublesome. I wished I could have slapped my head right now, but I was restrained.
" Is it about morning's incident?" I asked nervously.
" It seems you had the understanding of what you have done. Because of your shit trick, the school is now going to be a target for other magus."
There was a pure anger in her voice, it felt like she really wanted to punch me until I was dead. But, wait.. why will the school will be a target by magus.. I didn't understand.
" Why would the school become a target, can you explain?" I asked and regretted it immediately.
She grabbed my hair and pulled my face near her, then grabbed my neck with another hand and started to chok me.
" You piece of shit, you don't even know what time is it and called yourself a mage." as she screamed at and threw my head towards the wall, where I was captured.
Damnit, it's hurts. My head felt live it got busted in half. Though, these stupid chains were kind of healing mage craft. So my injuries were gone, but the pain still remained.
" I know a way...." Suddenly the girl begun to laugh. I got really a bad feeling from this.
" Let just put you in a death battle, though it doesn't matter if you die or live as the damage had already done... But it's for mine pleasure.. Hahahahaha..." She begun to laugh like a maniac.
Wait, what... A death battle, against whom.. it didn't matter... I didn't even have the cards with me anymore and on the top of that, I was being restrained by her chains... Damn it...
" Oh... don't worry about your condition, it won't be fair if I won't let you to go on freely for survival." She suddenly stopped her laughter and mocked me with her tongue out.
Soon the chains vanished from my body and I was finally able to move, but the fact was what did she actually wanted.
"And also take these.." as soon as I was free, she threw a bag toward me. It was mine bag.. Did she stole it from my class.. I didn't know and I didn't even wanted to know. But luckily, I found my cards in my bag, maybe she kept these there.. who knew...
" Well, I did hate to see someone dying without defense, and you are kinda weird case, so I want to observe, if you are strong enough to survive in this freaking war.." She suddenly yelled out..
What the hell was she yelling about. I wondered but decided to ignore it, as I was barely able to understood her. I took the three cards and then stretched my body a bit to warm up.
"I don't understand a thing you are trying to say, but if you wanna fight , then bring it on.." I spoke up finally. Her reaction confused me again, she was giggling.
" Well then..."
She put her hand in her mouth and pull out a purple diamond shaped crystal. It was fully covered with her salvia. Within a second, her expression changed as she threw the crystal towards me.
" Go my beast, Seol.."
The crystal begun to glow as it was coming towards me, so I hurriedly jumped backward enough to escape from it's transforming range. The crystal covered with a huge amount of mana, which transformed into a huge monster.
" Damn it ..." I swore ..
I never thought she would put me against a mana beast as a punishment. I read about them in those books in my basement. Mana beast are just a spiritual beast which was sealed in those crystal a long time ago. They used as servants of magus ever since then. The more the magus could produce mana, these beast got more stronger. And looking at her, I could guarantee it, she is a lot more stronger than she looked like. I really am screwed here.
As the beast finished manifesting, it looked like a huge purple wolf. This was my first time facing this types of opponents, though I couldn't go back now. I have to beat this monster and I already thought of a way, although it's a big gamble.
" Let's see, what can you do faker.." A confident voice came from that black haired magus.
" Seol, finish him now."
With that the mana beast started to approach me quickly. Without any weapon I was basically defenseless, and there is hardly any chance of me winning against her in a magus combat. So, I have to destroy the core of the mana beast and that's the only way .
Without wasting anymore second, I used the enhancement card along with acceleration card to make myself faster and get away from it's way. But it didn't stopped there, it continued to attack me with it's claw and I was just moving right to left in a high speed to dodge those.
Damn it... I could barely use all 3 cards together, if only my original mana wasn't sealed.... and at a moment like this, I didn't think I could last long by using 2 cards together. The mana flowed in my body ain't mine after all, they are from a mana pills I always had to keep my body's mana flow stable. But now not the time to think about it, I had to execute my plan now.
For the last 40 seconds, the beast Seol was just playing around with me. Even one of those attack hit me, I would have been slashed into half, but I kept dodging by increasing my speed. In the meantime, I continued analysing it's core, and it was in it's stomach. So I had to attack it from the below.
I would get only a single chance, so I enhanced my hands and legs at maximum level and waiting for Seol to attack me. The moment it's claws came near me, I accelerated my speed 50× as I moved from it's range within a second and reached under it's stomach and it didn't even realized it. I wondered what would be that kidnapper girl's reaction, but I couldn't waste my chance now.
I jumped from the floor below it's tummy with my enhanced legs, which boosted my overall movement again and used my sharpened and enhanced hand as a knife to go through the beast's stomach. The moment I went through it, the crystal also came out too, but as long as it was free, the mana beast can regenerate, so I needed to destroy it completely.
But in curiosity, I looked around to check on her, which I found exciting. She was stood still in disbelief. But my next move would make her more shocked than anything I did today, I could guaranteed that. Even though she wasn't going all out against me, cause if she wanted she could have gave different commands to Seol.
While I was enjoying this, my surroundings was moving really slowly, the acceleration card really made my mind fast too. Now for the final turn, I enhanced my whole body to strengthen them, specially my jaw. As I got near the crystal, I took a bite of it and it completely shattered in mouth. Without hesitating, I eat up the crystal core. As this happened, the body of the beast disappeared, but the girl had a horror look on her face.
I knew why she was so terrified. She must had realized already, I lack my own mana, and these crystal sucked mana from it's masters. For me, it could completely suck my mana and caused my death. She might be aware of it.
" Are you stupid?" I heard her screaming at me..
But that's all becoming blurry. I felt like my body becoming numb and my chest felt heavy. The only thing coming in my mind was, " Please work.. "
Within a moment my whole body begun to glow. Suddenly the pain in my chest blast away as my whole body was shining white. It's as it my body was being freed. It was so bright that the whole room was effected as if a flash bomb had blown here.
I closed my eyes as my body was slowly falling on the ground. After a few moments, my body wasn't numb anymore. Moreover, it became full on energy. The mana circulation in my body was normal, well not normal for me , but for a normal magus. I couldn't believe my little plan to break the seal actually worked.
These seals were actually corrupted mana, which negated the flow of mana. Someone had sealed my mana flow at my core when I was a child, that's the reason I had no magic of my own. But the beast crystals usually sucked of mana from it's host body. As it didn't find any mana in my body, it absorbed the seal's mana which unlocked my mana back to myself.
But suddenly I got hit by a punch on my stomach. In pain I opened my eyes to see an angry witch. She looked furious while trying to wake me up.
" What the hell are you doing you dumbass faker?" She screamed at me by holding me at my collar.
Now I had the confidence to face off her, but I decided to keep my magic secret from her. Though I wanted to tease her as I am the winner.
" Nothing, just stealing your pet and defeating you." I said with a smirk while bringing out the mana crystal on tongue and show it to her teasingly.
She looked angry, even though she controlled herself greatly. She threw me towards the ground as she said,
" Well, I guess so.." She said in an defeated voice.
I slowly got up from ground and again tried to teased her. Anybody would question me why I am eager to tease my kidnapper.. Well, the case is she was just got to be the unlucky victim of my experiments without knowing.
" Accepting defeat already? ain't you want to kill me so badly?" I teased.
" Not really..." She yelled.
" I was just planning to beat you so badly that I can make you my servant, nothing else..." she responded shyly.
I see.. She wanted to make me her servant, that's the reason I was kidnapped, not for the scene I created at school today. Well, to be fair, what I did in the morning was a mistake, though that could be beneficial for me also.
" Now that ... you won, you are free now... I underestimated you , you weren't completely weak. Though you are no where near my level.", she returned to her usual proud voice.
So, I could escape her any moment now, but I had a different plan.
" Well, in that case.. I want to work with you.. after all, you are stronger, ain't you?", I proposed.
"Huh..."
She looked shocked. That's what I anticipated.
" Well, you see, I might not be full fledged mage and unknown to the world of magus. But I am quite capable of surviving. But it would be wise to team up with stronger mages to survive in the upcoming war. Don't you agree?", I gave her my explanation.
" Wait, you know about the war, then why did you act dumb then?" She yelled at me.
What... out of all things, this got her attention.. Anyway , I still got it.
" Your fault, you never asked properly." I shut her off.
She was willing to scream at me , but didn't do it. Rather there was a silence between us for a minute.
" So what's your decision?" I asked, breaking the silence.
" Well, you ain't wrong. It will be good move to team up. And I am quite an experienced mage to teach you about the world of magus. So the deal is on.."
As she said, he held her hand forward. I also grabbed her hand for a formal handshake.
" I, Kirei Reiss, will be under your wing." I said.
In response, she replied, " I am Kristein Luna, accept your proposal."
" I look forward to work with you." Both of us said in the same time.
Thus my first bond with a magus was created. I still didn't know what the future held ahead of me, but it's gotta be interesting..
