Chapter 2 - Who am I?

That's a really good question...

I open my eyes to find myself in front lying on the edge of the sink as the hot steam from the hot water continued to burn the ends of my hands that were dipped in them. I instantly yanked myself back up and turned the nozzle off, letting the hot water finally drain down and made my way out of the steamy bathroom.

Coming out of the bathroom, I finally got to feel the room I was seeing from inside this kid's body. The room was decently big.

"Who am I kidding, this place is massive for a bedroom"

Making my way to the bed, I fell on it. I finally felt my body relax that I didn't know was stiff until now as I wasn't used to this.

I rolled over and looked at the ceiling, a color I couldn't exactly recognise in this dark room properly but it was some shade of red I'm assuming atleast.

"Where do I even begin..." It has been a week since I've been thrown into this body, my consciousness hasn't been stable. Usually in these transmigration stories the person either takes over the body or his sould combines with them.

Unfortunately for me, it looks like the process is happening in the most painful of ways.

Our consciousness swaps ever so often, migraines on the level I've never felt before keep attacking me, not to mention the battle of the constant whisper I keep hearing ever so often at times.

These past 6 days has been the worse moments of my life. Whatever is happening, I hope it ends quickly or else I feel like I'll collapse from the sheer sensory overload my mental is suffering from.

"A-ack!" A jolt of pain suddenly courses through my body, I felt my limbs stiffen in shock as I ended rolling down the bed.

THUD

I bashed against the floor of my room, as I clutched my head.

"I can't...." My head was spinning again "my head..." Wriggling around in excruciating screams.

CREAK

I heard the sound of a door opening while rays of light entered my vision further increasing the pain I've been feeling.

"-ASTER" I felt two arms holding on to me and shaking me.

The last thing I could make out was the outline of the person who came to my rescue and a pair of two crimson irises at the edges of my vision as I blanked out.

DUB

I could feel something beating, was it my heart?

DUB

No, I could feel two hearts beating.

LUB-DUB

I was floating, I don't know where I was exactly floating but I could feel nothing around me.

DUB

Somethin-No, someone else was also here. I could not hear them, nor feel them. But something in my told me that there really was someone else here. Why do I know this?

DUB

Hours have passed and my only focus was on the heartbeat I'm hearing.

DUB

I could see it now, My eyes were closed by I could see it.... In a distance, it felt warm, almost spherical, there was fire dancing around it.

DUB

My hands reached out for it, almost seemingly to have come to life on it's own. I felt alluded towards it.

DUB

The spherical ball of fire was just within my reach, a bit more and I'll be able to grasp it.

DU-

Another pair of hands quickly grabbed it, and my eyes shot open.

I jolted up from my sleep, hyperventilating, and trying to catch my breath.

"Relax, young master. Relax" I felt a hand on my back and suddenly a calm relaxing warmth spread across my body.

There was a faint glow around my vision, the feeling was hard to describe but the aftermath relaxed my body, as my breathing steadied itself.

"Breathe in"

"And now breathe out" I took deep breaths acrossing to his command until I felt way better when he finally left his hands on my back.

"How do you feel now? Do you feel relaxed?" I nodded my head at his words.

"What... Happened?" Even though I no longer felt a massive headache, my memory seems quite messy. I finally noticed the old man beside me, his hazel eyes looking at me with concern, dressed neatly from head to toe in a butler outfit.

He pressed his hand against my forehead and released a sigh.

"Goodness gracious, it looks like your fever has settled down, if you were suffering from such high fevers you could have told me so young masters. Seriously, why do you feel it so necessary to bully this old man's soul. I might lose years of my lifespan at the rate you keep stressing this old man out" The butler exclaimed as his expression went through several phases of emotions before looking miserable.

Looking at this melodramatic act, I let out a giggle. He mouth turned into a frown before going back to smile, I heard something along the lines of "atleast the young master is happy..."

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry" I apologised with my hands in the air. How expression turned from miserable to shocked. He grabbed a thermometer from the stand and proceeded to shove it in my mouth.

"Do you still happen to have a fever?" The butler asked me while waiting for the thermometer to be done.

"Yes, Yes I'm fine" I tried to grab the thermometer but was sternly grabbed a hold failing to do so.

"Looks like your internal temperature is still fine, does your body ache in any manner?" He cautiously asked me as he inspected my body. He went through a series of various questions that I answered.

"Does your head hurt anywhere Young master?" He asked me as another man entered the room.

"No, my head doesn't exactly hurt. But it feels foggy...." I told him so, he handed a note he was scribbling down to the new man who just entered the room.

"Honoured to meet you, Young lord Arnold" He slightly bowed in front of me before looking at the notes my butler scribbled down on the notes.

"He is the doctor we called to look at your condition when you collapsed due to the fever Young Master" My butler informed me, the doctor was done looking at the notes in his hand and looked back at me.

"You said, your head feels foggy?" He asked me as he put a hand over my forehead "Can you try to elaborate more on that?" I nodded my head and try my hardest to explain the alien feeling I'm feeling in my head.

"I see... You can't describe it?" He focuses his attention on my head as he hand that was placed on my head glowed with a faint white radience surrounding it. I flinched as soon as I felt the glow covering my head, but dared not move my head. We stayed in that position for what felt like an eternity in reality it barely over a minute, Until he finally removed his hand over my forehead and smiled at me.

"Can you remember the name of your head butler young lord?" He asked me, and my eyes instantly widened.

"I don't have the memories of the original Arnold... Wait, isn't this the perfect opportunity. I can just say, I've suffered from memory loss and I can get out of this mess. What a convienent set-up made just for me" I acted as if I was trying to remember and then shook my head. The smile the doctor had widened as he looked at me with great interest.

"What the heck, what's with that smile. Did he purposely ask that question expecting me to answer this way!?" Sweat started to form at the edges of my forehead as the doctor and I stared at eachother.

"This world is too cruel!" My butler interrupted our staredown as he clutched his chest and dramatically bent over against the wall "For young master to forget me, the person who changed who has known since birth. What terrible fate! This must tru-" and I ignored everything else he said and continued my focus back to the doctor who coughed to get my attention.

"Can you remember anything before you collapsed and suffered the high fever?" He asked me, while holding on the earlier note he had in his hand.

"No, I don't seem to recall anything" I told him.

"Wait a second" I can't just say I don't remember anything, but I'll try to add a little flavour to it.

"I seem to feel some sort of familiar with my butler though" I glanced at the butler who was still going on about "cruel fate", so I continued to ignore him since I'm not sure how to deal with him.

"I see... Well, young lord I hope you have a good day. Your memory should return soon enough" the doctor told me as he tapped on the shoulder of the old man and they both left me alone in the room.

"What do you think of his condition Henry" The head butler of Armsberg family asked the doctor who was walking beside him in the corridor.

"You are as perceptive as ever Rayn, it was an assassination attempt. I couldn't believe you when sent the report to me, but looking at him today. It seems it was quite the elaborate plan to kill him" Henry scribbled something down on the paper and handed it to Rayn "The attack wasn't on his body but his soul" Rayn's eyes widened as he instantly grabbed ahold of the paper and read it's contents.

"His soul is somehow recovering, I don't know how. But it looks like his soul was completely broken down. He is recovering for now, but it looks like his personality took the major dive. For the worse or better. I'm not exactly sure"

Rayn held his chin deep in thought.

"It was worrying when he apologized, but it was worse when he didn't utter a single word or insult when I started acting dramatically towards him. The usual young master would have ordered me to be thrown out of the room the instant I tried to act that way"

Henry let out a chuckle at his friend's silly antics.

"I've tracked down the clue as who made the attempts, but it'll take a while for me track them down entirely. Until then, take care of the young lord. Even though, his soul survive through the ordeal and is somehow recovering now, no one knows what consequences can come from it" Henry grabbed the paper back from Rayn as they finally made it the elevator of the of mansion "I'll be taking my leave now, take care of yourself too"

Henry slightly bowed to Rayn before he got in the elevator and left Rayn alone in the corridor.

"That kid is really going to be the end of me..." Rayn rubs his forehead and makes his way towards his office.

The two older men left me alone, I finally have time to organise my thoughts.

"Looks, like it's finally over. I don't feel any sort of lingering headaches like the past few days" I grabbed a hold of a mirror to my side and looked at myself for the first time since coming to this body.

I sat there trying to organise my thoughts, until I heard the doorknob turn and a little head poke out of it.

"What now?" I internally groan as I looked at that direction.
