Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

I strolled through the neighborhood, I knew I was gonna get grounded, but who the hell cares?—that show was one of my best! As I looked around I remembered how much I hated the scenery, there's just a bunch of rich-looking houses, almost no nature at all(unless you include the fake plants).

I spotted some parents pointing at me and whispering to their children—specifically sons—I looked at them and imagined them smacking their own faces and that's exactly what they did.

It was pretty spooky how any human, animal or plant did whatever I wanted them to do, this started at the same time I survived the accident. Whatever I wanted someone or something to do or say, all I had to do was think about them and what I wanted them to do and they did it if I concentrated hard enough.

At first I thought it was just some coincidence that they did what I wanted them to do, but then if I was thinking something hard enough it would happen, so I decided it wasn't a coincidence and started to try and control this weird power.

You know I didn't start to make people do some really bad stuff—for example, every time I thought about my adoptive parents I had a strong urge to make them push each other off some mountain, we can't have that happening, now can we?—but this was something so extreme I haven't told anybody even Clair and Lulu about it.

I didn't have a clue where to search for Ace, so I decided to head off to my special spot.

Yes, I do have a special spot. The spot was full of nature, in fact it was a forest, a very beautiful forest.

But, strangely, only I could see it, or find it when I'm alone. Once I tried to show it to Clair and Lulu, but when they came I couldn't find the place and my sis and friend started to think it was a joke, because I didn't want them to think I was mental I played along pretending I was fooling them.

I wish I could show them the lush, pristine grass and the serene plants and flowers, the trees leaning down on the big pool with water and the steamy mist above the water right where the waterfall led—yes there is a waterfall—and the main attraction, the biggest tree right in the center of the forest, it looked really young, but as soon as I touched it I could sense it was millenia old. It felt like the forest could hum, but it was completely silent there, no animals, no other humans, you couldn't even hear the sound of the waterfall which was strange, very strange.

I was halfway to the forest until I saw a boy and a girl, they seemed to be arguing about something. So, I did the reasonable thing. I stopped and listened, and no I was not eavesdropping, I was simply hiding behind a bush listening to their conversation. But, not that that was important.

When I came up close I saw that the girl had an oval face, heart shaped lips and hazel hair tied in a bun.

Part of her hair was blue, her hair mirrored her eyes, the inner circle of her eyes were hazel and the outer was blue—this reminded me of something, but I can't remember what.

She wore a pink hoodie and some black leggins.

The boy had a diamond face, he was wearing a black t-shirt with light blue jeans—with simple, straight, jet black hair, his hair also had a part with a different color, part of it was silver, his eyes also mirrored his hair, the inner circle black and the outer silver.

Mirrored, multiple colored eyes and hair,—Ace, that's where I've seen the hair and eyes, Ace's hair was also colored like that. Now the conversation seemed really important.

The argument was really heated, the girl especially seemed to be arguing.

"—won't go back there, Alan!" she shouted in the boy's—at Alan's face,

Alan studied her with concern while arguing back, "You have to Kate, or they're going to take you back with force."

"No! I'll never let them take me! Not like what they did to Grey." As soon as she said that name tears poured down her face.

Alan reached down to comfort her, but she swatted his arm away.

"No Alan, go back, give me some time to hide."

Alan shook his head, "You know I can't do that, if you don't cooperate, I'll have to use force.".

"Then, go ahead and try." Kate said her voice full of defiance.

"I'm sorry Kate." Alan said, with obvious sorrow in his eyes and then he lunged at Kate.

Aaaaaand, that's where I come in, I shoved Alan to the side and stood in front of Kate.

"I'm sorry, but I would rather you not hurt this girl." I said, smiling calmly.

"Who are you?" Alan asked, at the same time Kate said, "You can see us!".

"My name is Dawn Valar, and of course I can see you! Do I look like I'm blind?" I answered and asked.

Kate's hand went in her pocket and she glanced at Alan, he gave her a nod.

"Are you working for the council? Did they send you to retrieve me?" Kate's tone was bitter, but she looked like a gentle soul, she must really hate this council, whoever they are. Damn.

I shook my head and asked, "Why would I be working for the council?"

She looked at suspiciously, before answering in what was more of a question than answer, "Are you not a Godling?" she asked, confused.

I shook my head again, "What the hell is a Godling?" more questions piled in my head.

Alan came between us and held his hand to my forehead and started to say,

"You are not here, you do not remember anything, you will forget everything,".

After he said that I felt dizzy wanting to give in, it sounded so tempting, but I blinked a few times and regained what little consciousness had left me.

Then, I snapped at Alan, "Who the hell are you? What did you do, dammit?" Alan and Kate's faces were masks of shock, "Who are you? How do you still remem—" Kate's voice was cut off by a nearby explosion, I turned around to see my foster family's mansion on fire.
