Chapter 1 - Beginning of the apocalypse

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the small town of Willowbrook. Dr. Emily Adams stood at the entrance of Willowbrook General Hospital, taking in the last rays of the evening sun. It was an ordinary evening, or so she thought, as she prepared to finish her rounds and head home.

Inside the hospital, the usual bustle of activity greeted her. Nurses scurried from room to room, the hum of machinery filled the air, and the faint scent of antiseptic lingered. Dr. Adams hadalways found solace in the controlled chaos of the hospital, a place where she could make a difference, heal the sick, and provide solace to those in pain.

But on this fateful night, the serenity of the hospital was shattered. The emergency room doors swung open, and a disheveled man stumbled in, his gait unsteady. His skin was pallid, and his eyes, previously full of life, were now vacant and devoid of humanity. He mumbled incoherently, a guttural sound that sent a shiver down Dr. Adams' spine.

She watched with growing unease as the man approached, his pace quickening. He lurched forward, teeth bared, and a primal hunger in his lifeless eyes. Panic welled up in her as the man's intentions became clear. He was not seeking help; he was seeking flesh.

In a moment of sheer terror, Dr. Adams stepped back, narrowly avoiding the man's attack. The hospital staff who had gathered nearby rushed to her aid, pulling the assailant away and restraining him. They couldn't comprehend what had just

occurred. Chaos ensued as more reports of similarincidents flooded in from different parts of town. People, once ordinary citizens, were now behaving like the stuff of nightmares, attacking others with unrelenting aggression and a voracious appetite for human flesh. Panic spread like wildfire through the community as the horrifying truth took root - a zombie apocalypse was upon them.

Dr. Adams and a small group of survivors, including some hospital staff and patients' family members, found themselves huddled in a corner of the emergency room. They were surrounded by the wails of the infected outside, clawing at the hospital's doors and windows. The military had established a quarantine zone miles away, but the journey there was fraught with danger. The streets were overrun with the infected, and escape seemed nearly impossible.

As the night deepened and the horrors of the apocalypse loomed, Dr. Adams knew that she had to find a way to save her group and, if possible, her town. In a world teetering on the brink of darkness, hope was a fragile ember, but it was one she was determined to protect and nurture.
