Chapter 2 - 3 years later

3 years after getting hospitalized, the boy is getting out of prison. When he passed out at the hospital, he had to get surgery as his vital organs were failing. While he was getting surgery, the boys that had sent him to the hospital, ran to their parents and told them that the boy had tried to assault and rob them. When the city guards came to question the children, their parents bribed the guards and told them that their children were the victims and they acted in self defense. So once the boy came out of surgery and got treated for the minor injuries, the guards came in and arrested him for intent to injure and attempted robbery. Because he was a minor at the time of arrest, he only got sentenced to 2 years in juvenile prison.

"Name and prisoner number?" A guard asked the boy who had seemed to become a fair bit taller and better built in the last three years he spent in prison.

"Xavier, prisoner number 349887 sir." The boy answered with a slight smile on his face.

"Big day, huh Xavier." The guard said to the boy.

"Yes sir." He answered the guard.

"Oh Xavier, finally getting out huh?" A guard passing by asked in a cheerful voice.

"Yes sir, second time celebrating this day so hopefully this time i actually get to go." He answered while laughing.

"If you don't get out the second time then you know what the say, third times the charm." Once the guard passing by finished saying that, a moment of silence followed, which was followed by Xavier bursting out in laughter.

"I don't think i wanna spend another year here with you." Xavier said while laughing with the guard.

"Take care out there, don't get in trouble." The guard said to Xavier while he was picking up his stuff.

"Yes sir, will do my best." Xavier said while limping away.

"What does he mean by second time getting out?" The guard that was taking Xaviers name and prisoner number asked the other guard take was supposed to be passing by.

"He was supposed to get out one year ago but the same day he was supposed to get out, some of the younger members from the Silenced crew picked a fight with him." The passing guard responded.

"Then why did he have to stay an extra year, would it not have been considered as self defense?" The other guard asked with a confused tone and look on his face.

"It was considered as self defense, but because the warden is cousins with the leader of Silenced crew, he decided to invoke a hearing that the child was too dangerous to be released into society yet-" But before he was able to finish.

"Do those cases not get put in front of multiple judges, to judge wheter he's allowed to go back or not?" The other guard asked.

"Let me finish, idiot." The passing guard said after hitting the other guard on the head.

"Yes sir."

"The judges knew that the warden was corrupted and being unfair to Xavier but because of how badly he damaged Silenced crews members, they had to agree or they'd be punished by their superiors." The passing guard said before looking at his watch and saying he'll met him later since he had to contintue his patrol.

*Xavier POV*

'What should i do now' Xavier thought to himself while walking around with a blank expression.

'Maybe i should go eat, I've missed being able to eat a proper meal.'

'But then again, i don't have more than the 14 copper coins that i went into prison with.'

'Oh well, I'll think about money after i've eaten something.'

Xavier walked to the restaurant square and cruised around looking at the menus.

'This one seems affordable enough, with decent food.'

Xavier stepped into a restaurant called Boar horders bar, which even though it was called a bar, anyone drinking alcohol also had something to eat. Xavier searched for an empty table, while searching for a table a waitress asked him if he wanted a table for one or if he was expecting someone else.

"Oh no, it's just me. Table for one please." Xavier said to the waitress with a soft smile on his face.

"Alrighty then, sit down at the table in the back, left of the tall fella." The waitress said while pointing her finger.

"I'll be right there in a second to take your order." The waitress said before walking off to the bar.

Xavier went to sit down to the table the waitress had pointed him to, he sat down and waited. Aproximately 10 minutes later the waitress came to take his order.

"I'll have some fish, chicken and rice." Xavier said to the waitress who was standing next too her.

"Alright, would you like a drink as well?"

"Yes please, some water would be perfect."

"Alrighty, your meal will be ready in about 5-10 minutes." The waitress said before walking off again.

After approximately 15 minutes his meal arrived.

"Sorry that it took us a bit longer, we have been a little short on ingredients lately. But here's your meal so enjoy!" The waitress said enthusiastically.

"Oh and that will be 11 copper coins."

"Alright, here you go. Thank you for the meal." Xavier said to the waitress while handing her the money.

After finishing his meal, he left and decided to wander around to look for an inn as he needed a place to sleep at for the night. The problem was that all of the inns cost more money than he had.

'Guess i can't sleep at a comfy bed tonight, huh.' Xavier thought to himself after he had finished passing by all the inns that were close by the restaurant district.

'Guess it's time to leave Alveex finally, no idea where I'm supposed to go but i should be fine as long as i don't run into trouble.' Xavier said to himself while passing through from the second part of the city into the third.

While he was passing by the third part of the city, he looked at some of the stores there, all of them looked and probably were old and raggedy but the prices on most items were relatively cheap.

"I'll probably need some type of sharp object like a knife or a sword while I'm traveling as I'll need to make fires and skin any animal I kill" Xavier muttered to himself.

After around 15 minutes of walking and looking around, he found the seemingly perfect place, Bob's weaponry. It was a run-down building with moss growing on the entrance.

A tall, very thin man ran over to the door once he saw the door open.

"Hello customer what would you like to buy?" The man said while gasping for air.

"I'm looking for a knife or sword that I could use while traveling, do you have anything like that here?" Xavier asked the man while leaning his neck to be able to look him in the eye.

"Oh yes, we have a special offer going on as well, if you buy any item, you'll get to pick any item from that wall for free." The man said while pointing his finger at a wall that had a wooden hammer, a backpack, a fruit basket, a fishing pole, statues of different monsters and races, and another knife.

"Oh well, i'll buy a traveling knife that costs 3 copper coins and, umm, i'd like that backpack." Xavier said to the man while thinking if he made the right choice going with the backpack over the hammer as he had plans for both the items.

"Alright, the knife is only 1 copper coin, here you go." The man said while handing the knife and backpack to Xavier.

"Oh well, if it's that cheap, how much would it cost to buy that wooden hammer?" Xavier asked the salesman.

"That wooden hammer... I'll sell it to you for the other 2 copper coins."

"Alright, great. I'll take it." Xavier said with a relieved look on his face,

While Xavier was putting the knife and hammer in the backpack, he asked the salesman why he was selling everything for so cheap.

"I'm trying to get rid of all the items fast because we want to go move to Ufrein, so the best way is to sell it for cheap. I also get some extra money this way." The man said to Xavier with a pretty wide smile on his face.

"Good luck to you then, hope we meet again!" Xavier exclaimed while walking out of the store.

"Thank you, you too. Good luck on your adventure!" The man yelled to Xavier while the door was closing.

After leaving the store, he walked towards the city gates, he saw that the gates were closing so he tried to walk faster but the fact that he had to limp, didn't really give him an advantage, so he resorted to asking the three guards closing the gates if they could wait.

"Of course mate, no worries." One of the guards said to him while signaling the other 2 to stop.

"Thank you very much!" Xavier said while passing through the city gates.

"Will he be fine, with a leg like that?" One of the guards asked the other two.

"Well it's not our problem, plus he must have a reason for leaving so I think he'll be fine."

"He seemed happy, and there aren't any bandits close to the capital so he should be safe."

*Xavier POV*

Xavier felt a sense of relief the moment he stepped outside the city.

"I feel like a weight has been taken off my shoulders and I feel like I'm finally free." Xavier said to himself while walking along the path that leads to the closest town.
